My Blog – A boastful examination.

3:02 AM 0 Comments

lifeasasrilankan.blogspot.com is almost 2 years old. I am not speaking of the exact date it was opened but the amount of time it has been an entertainment blog. Life did start a little slow and I had to take some risks and make some stupid mistakes to come all this way. My English didn’t start of as well as it is now. My English was not at all good until I met some inspirational teachers who made my English come up to the standard that it is now enjoying. I took years to master the art of writing and I bloody well did a lot of hard work.

Speaking the truth this blog started off due to two reasons. Firstly I wanted to practice my creative writing. Secondly and most probably the biggest reason was my revenge plan (I am serious). This was made to show that I was able to do things my personal bullies could not. At school my earliest memories involved people bulling me because I was not good at my spelling. This involved teachers and students and I was going through hell. To add to this I was a keen reader which made one particular student remark that” Oh she reads but her English is just worthless”.

I coped with all this (mind you) until 2013 where I found my love for English Literature. I loved what I was reading and what I was writing + acting. Anyhow yet my English didn’t fit the standards. This is where I met my wonderful Literature teacher Sir Mahangu. I have to say he had a way of motivating people and making them work hard. So there started my love for Shakespeare, Wilfred Owen and Christina Rossetti. I take this opportunity to thank him for everything he did to make me be the person I am today.

So this blog may have proven to my dear bullies what I am capable of and I am happy about that (I am not being pathetic). After all it is not for nothing that people say that hard work pays off. Right now my blog is enjoying 67000+ views and a strong following on Google Plus with many readers contacting me on srilankacricket77@gmail.com too.

At the beginning my blog might have been a revenge plan but right now it is a part of my life. I do enjoy writing my reviews and love it when people send in positive comments, emails or messages. So what has my blog achieved more than those 67000+ views? Well let’s see (I am going to boast like hell hereJ ).

Let’s start off with the surprise I got on the 24th December when Saranga Disasekara himself commented on my Wassane Premaya (WP) review on Facebook. He had said that I was doing good work and that I should keep it up. Well many of you might say well what’s so big about it but I do have my reasons. I am personally a big fan of his and as he is the male lead in WP who is better to comment on it. So yes I am very happy with this. This was so nice of him to say and it finally shows that people are reading my reviews (also shows that they know my blog and I exist  J ). So I take this moment to thank his againJ .

The first time however was when Mardava shared my post on Shakya Thenuwara on his personal FB account. This too was very nice of him and something that made me proud to be the admin of lifeasasrilankan.blogspot.com .

There are other numerous feats my blog has achieved (lol J) .

Due to my darling blog I even found two wonderful friends from Aussie who speak to me regularly and are a source of motivation for me. Also recently I have been getting a lot of mails on how I could improve my blog articles and where I might find the resources. Some have even sent mails to me on what sections of my articles I can improve and also detailed insights in to characters which has made me think of new meanings of the dramas I have reviewed. Thank you all.

Also my blog is having a growing fan base with a lot of them coming from Sri Lanka. Others countries such as Aussie, USA, India and New Zealand have also helped increase my page view numbers considerably. Many have even taken the time to stop by and post suggestions and criticisms. I take this opportunity to thank all these people too.

At the end of the day I hope you guys got to learn something out of my shameless boasting (proud mother of a 2 year old baby/blogJ ). After all I have gone through I never could got to this position without hard work. Trust me; I have finished almost 50+ pens just writing Literature answers so as to make them perfect. Hard work pays off that is what I have learnt from Sir Mahangu and through the progress of this blog. Moreover determination, self confidence and motivating people around you are things which are important to survive in life. Sometimes I think this whole blog is a waste of time and energy but at those times I read what my viewers have sent me and finally feel that I may be doing something (even something small) to bring something worth will for people around me.

My last advice is that you should have confidence in yourself and what you do and not give a shit about what other people say or do to/about you. Life is far too short to nurture regret and anger….thank you again for supporting me through page views and for you kind words and encouragements J I hope I didn’t bore you to death with my boastful writing but hey I ended everything in less than 1500 wordsJ. Let us meet again in another review…Farwell till then J J J J J J

About Me

9:24 AM 0 Comments

I am Janathri Weeratunga and I am a first year LLB student of University of London International Programmes. So this blog is my hobby and my part time job (sort of). I started this blog way back when I was doing my O/Ls so that I can get a place where I can practice my writing skills. However with time and my 100% obsession on dramas I converted my darling blog into an entertainment blog.

I am pretty much a drama addict but there is no particular set of dramas I like to watch. As I am a romantic at heart I usually drag my attention to the romance genre. However I am also an action fan and because of that I have an undying love for F&F, Transporter, Onk Bak and Chocolate. So yes I watch Thai, Japanese, Korean and Tamil (my guilty pleasure) movies. After all I am a diehard fan of Surya and Danush. Getting on to Korean dramas I do have quite a list of actors with Kim Soo Hyun being my favorite and others include Lee Min Ho, Lee Jong gi, Bae Soo bin etc…etc. However when it comes to actress I am a fan of Lee Young Ae, Park Hye shin, Suzy etc…etc.

Anyhow now I started this (as I have told before) just as a random blog but now it’s an entertainment blog with an average of 8000 to 10000 viewers a month. So of course I am proud but I really love my blog even without all views. I also happy to say that right now I am celebrating my blog reaching 60000+ views and I thank you for your support.

I usually write a few reviews on Sri Lanka dramas which include Wassane Premaya and Dedunnai Adarai. My reviews on foreign dramas include Queen Seondeok (Janahithakami Rajiniya), Ananthayen Aa Tharu Kumara (My Love from another Star), I Can Hear Your Voice (Hima Thuhina), Moon Embraces the Sun (Hiru Sadu Adarai), City Hunter, IKPND, YHM (Me Adarayai) etc. I am hoping to include many more reviews on dramas in the future. Right now I am in the process of writing more reviews on Korean dramas.

However sadly I am not able to watch all the dramas on TV and review them. A big problem my mother had is that I continuously analyze dramas when everyone is watching them. This makes them very angry but they always say old habits are hard to beat. I am an A/L literature in English student and my life revolved around analyzing, reading between the lines and understanding characters for 3 years. Even after almost 6 months of not doing it I kind of felt that I need to make use of these analyzing skills and ability to foresee the plot. So because of that I started my latest series of reviews on mylifeasasrilankana.blogspot.com. Without giving my parents full on lectures on why a particular drama is good or bad I started writing all of it down on the blog. This was quite a relief to them ( mind you).

So this is me and I hope I didn’t bore you to tearsJ. Please feel free to contact me on srilankacricket77@gmail.com or on my Google Plus account (Janathri Weeratunga). I am open to opinions, criticism or anything else you want to say about my blog.

WTF Week -Dedunnai Adare Week 5 & 6 reviews.

9:14 AM 1 Comments
Weeks : December 7th  2015 - December 18th 2015

Hello guys. I got my holidays from college and I am not going to study at all. I got loads of chocolates as it is Christmas sale in GermanyJ. This week the blog has been given a “new look” with snowflakes falling and a new header and I hope it looks good. It’s a change for Christmas and I hope you guys like it.  My best bud came from Singapore and she has enjoyed her trip. I am so happy for her because she deserves it as she has been a workaholic. These two weeks were quite hectic for me personally as I was studying my ass off for Contract law. Anyhow as I am a bumbling idiot I ended up getting the last part wrongL. However let us put aside my pathetic lack of a social life, let’s dive right into these two weeks reviews.

Baddrajith ( B)

So Baddrajith (B) is proposed to S and he doesn’t quite know it.  As he is a bumbling idiot he just goes along with the plot without even asking Ishini whether she likes his idea. This was so dumb, as in real life B would have questioned this or it would have slipped out of someone’s mouth. Anyhow his mother even plans his engagement and to make things worse it is to happen with his sister’s.  He even goes along with this because he didn’t have the backbone to tell everyone that he is in love with Ishini. In Sri Lanka such men are called gay or the “P” word. I personally hate B’s lack of character.

The kiss - so out of character

S convinces herself that she is in love with B. However she remembers Danush and what he did also. This I believe is solid proof to show that she is not in love with B. However when urged by B’s sister, she even goes along and gives a kiss to B (no worries. We are in Sri Lanka and a kiss amounts to one on the cheek). This was so out of character for S as she is not the type for this kind of child’s play.

The boss ( Prince Charming  - Ishini's to be boyfriend

Danush has his cunning Aunt coming to his house. She and her son has sold everything they owed so that they could live off Danush's money. This son guy is also the guy who broke up with B's sister because of money. Here Danush like an idiot falls to the trap. Anyhow he also says that money is everything and life is money. I hate this isde of his.

Danush -this is a cute pic of his :)

Ishini on the other hand has her own problems. She is to go to Kandy with her boss. Somehow the receptionist has booked them a honeymoon suite. This is met with disgust by both Ishini and the boss. The boss thus ends up sleeping on the sofa (in the reception area) and Ishini in the room. This couple is so cute but guys don’t keep hopes for them. They may not be destined to be together. However I hope the screenwriters have the backbone to change the script from the Indian version. Anyhow in the middle of the night Ishini has this harebrain idea of going to Colombo alone and on the way she is kidnapped (I think this is the season for kidnaps – as it’s the same track on WP). The thugs end up calling S and asking for Rs. 10 laks. Of course Prince Charming (Boss) is going to come to save Ishini.

The damsel in distress - Ishini :)

B’s friend also has this idea of giving Ishini one of B’s love letters. To do this he makes use of S’s little brother who charges Rs.50 to give the letter to Ishini. However S sees the letter and she cunningly takes it away from the little guy. Sooner or later the cat is going to jump out of the bag. Life does seem to revolve around small things in the DA world. Let’s meet again in another week’s review J J J J J J.

The friend who kind of screws everything up.

Romance in the air – Wassane Premaya 18 & 19 week review

8:47 AM 0 Comments

Week: December 7th 2015 –18th December 2015

It does seem like our dear screenwriters are reading my blogJ . However that is only a one in a million (Ne-yo) chance of that happeningJ. Anyhow this week we did have some romantic moments which were quite cute mind you. I do see some hope for this drama after all. I know that the romance they showed was just glimpse of the real thing but I think it will gradually make progress. Maybe it was the sudden success of Dedunnai Adare that opened the eyes of the screenwriters. Whatever it is I have to say “Dear screenwriters keep it up.” Let’s get to the reviews J :

So I have to tell you guys that this drama is a copy of the Indian series “Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Baar Phir”. Yes that’s the second season of the much loved “Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon?” Sadly I have not watched this drama and there are no online reviews so there is not even a hint as to what kind of a story WP will become. Anyhow the basic facts are very similar. There is an Aditya like guy who marries for revenge but I the end falls head over heels in love with Astha ( coincidently both female characters have the same name). The female lead of the drama hates her husband but later chooses to stay with him because she is in love with him. So I think the same ending will be given to WP and if my guesses are right everything will be wrapped up in 584 episodesJ.

This week Mr. D wants Aditya to go with Astha on a business trip. This trip happens to be a faraway one and Astha is disgusted. Aditya however does not see much wrong in the trip until Astha threatens not to go.  This leads to a usual fight. Surprisingly Malini is standing outside their door eavesdropping on every word. However instead of hatred towards Astha I saw pity in her eyes. It was as though Malini understood what Astha was feeling. There was some kind of comradeship between them even when they spoke.

Akila on the other hand is having a hard time from his debtors. Unable to cope all of it he goes to Sonali. He simply asks her to give him a loan to pay off all his debt. As Sonali is not strong enough to ask her dad the money, she goes to Astha. She asks Astha to ask the money from Aditya. Astha is left helpless as she is obviously not going to ask a loan from Aditya. Sonali seems to fall in to Akila’s trap head on. I say this because she tells Astha that Akila has really changed. She says that the proof for this change is that he is begging for money from her and he would have never done that if he was in the right state of mind.

This week we also see Astha being kidnapped by Akila’s cronies and things seem bad. However I really liked the romance that was in the drama. This time we had a little trip back in time to the time when our A & A couple were in “love”. We see Aditya joking about there being snakes in the fields. This freaks out Astha who runs towards Aditya (lol).   Then there was also the cute scene where Aditya carries Astha towards the vehicle. Note here that Aditya’s face showed obvious signs of love. However he quickly veils his emotions with his angry face.  Anyhow this lovely cuteness is short lived. In the very next scene Astha is kidnapped and Aditya thinks she ran away.

The vehicle is parked somewhere and Astha is taken away. I really don’t understand why the police didn’t notify the D family of this vehicle. This is just stuff that drags dramas for about 600 episodes. To make things worse Aditya is being an asshole. He runs to Astha’s house and blames them for hiding Astha (this was so dumb). Aditya’s father thinks further and believes that there is foul play.

Anyhow according to script I believe Aditya gets caught for kidnapping his wife and Akila runs free. Things will become worse – don’t worry about things; it’s going to be even worse. Astha tries to get away by pointing the gun (typical drama puff) but things turn around. Anyhow let’s meet next week for another review. Anyway life goes on guys… life goes on… J J J J J J

The Twist -Dedunnai Adare Week 2, 3, 4 reviews

12:22 AM 0 Comments

Week: November 16th 2015 – 4th December 2015

How are you guys? I am doing quite well. Moreover I am kind of feeling the heat of the upcoming exams and I am kind of freaked out. I am also kind of pissed off at my school and kind of feel disgusted. Anyhow let’s put aside my problems for a while. These few weeks have been quite a lot of like for Dedunnai Adare’s (DA) plot to change. DA has pretty much gone under a huge plot change and it is pretty awesome. Let’s get to the review now:

So we see that S is in love with Baddrajith and she is hoping he will give a positive reply. As we all know Baddrajith is also in love with S and things are going to be good. This is where all the twists come about. We see Baddrajith who is looking at a picture (guesses anyone? Probably S na? ) and we easily assume that it is S. So when Baddrajith’s friend grabs the picture and sees Ishini in it we are very much confused. This is when Baddrajith confesses that he was in love with Ishini all this while and not S. Things start to get all strange now and I was kind of disgusted. It turns out that he helped S’s family only because he wanted to get closer to Ishini. So he became S’s friend just to see Ishini’s playfulness.

B is in love with Ishini

When Ishini got caught in the entire marriage hullabaloo with the bad minister Baddrajith had helped her out simply because he didn’t want her marries off. In all this Baddrajith also says that he knows that he will never get Ishini. So this all amounts to unrequited love (reminds me so much of Wilfred Owen J <3 ). However Baddrajith’s friend tells him that B could get Ishini if he really wants to. So this is where the game starts. Before all this lets get to know what happened before all this hullabaloo happened.

Ishini was in a very difficult position and this all happened because of this minister who proposed to her. This happens because the minister puts the family under economic duress and forces them to marry Ishini off to him. Baddrajith also tells Ishini to get married to the minister as there is no hope for the family otherwise. So Ishini agrees and everyone is shocked. The next day the minister comes to their home with the file which contains the details which frees them of a tax (which was unfairly put on them). The minister then asks them to have the engagement soon too. Baddrajith quickly calls the media and ells them that this minister is very good and he is not a corrupted one. The minister gets pissed off and kicks the media out. He warns Baddrajith and tells him to be careful. Anyhow Baddrajith tells him that every word he spoke is recorded and that if he threatens them again – it will go online. The minister warns and leaves.

Later Baddrajith’s mother and sister come to S’s home to get ready for the sister’s wedding. S is being very nice to them as everyone is teasing her that her mother in law has come to see her. S’s mother tells Baddrajith’s mother that he is having feelings towards S. So within them the marriage is fixed.

Then comes to the present track of B liking Ishini and what he does to make her like her (flash forward). He and his friend goes to a jewellary store and buys Ishini a African diamond for Rs 20000 (It looks really fake and African Diamonds are more expensive than Rs 20000). Baddrajith gives it S accidently and then tells it is for Ishini. Ishini then thinks that B is too shy to give it to S. B anyhow things that Ishini takes the gift because she has an idea of her.

Moreover when B goes and gives Ishini a red rose which she again thinks it’s for S. Anyhow now Ishini is finding a job and she goes to an interview under Danush’s friend (which she doesn’t know yet). I like the actor who acts as Danush’s friend. He acted in Angana (on ITN) as the main character. I have a feeling that Ishini is going to fall in deep love with this guy. However may be it is the guy who is to fall in love. OMG if he is gonna go through all that heartbreak as the second lead I am going to cry. I am going to cry buckets until the screenwriters change the script!

Anyhow this week (tonight) we will be seeing S meeting an accident. The guy who accidently runs her down is Danush! Then there is this cute scene of Danush carrying S inside (though I wish it was Ishini). I also have this feeling that may be they could have chooses a little lee mature girl for S as well. I mean Danush is this youngish playboy as oppose to mature S. Of course this would only matter if the screen writers come up with a romance plot for Danush and Ishini.

Danush in the mean time is being a bloody playboy. He is running from one actress to another (much to the disgust of his friend). Moreover he is being all posh and all and thinking only of money. This is a very bad flaw in his character and he is going to get into big trouble in the future. Since this is the Danush we know the screenwriters may push S with Danush. Then S’s matureness and kindness will go well with Danush’s money greediness and big head / harshness.  Anyhow I really don’t want B getting Ishini or S. I want S to go with Danush with Ishini going with his friend. Ishini will of course take away all the seriousness of Danush’s friend and make him relaxJ . Anyway let’s hope for the best J J J J J J

Romance…? – Wassane Premaya Week 17 review

12:11 AM 0 Comments

Week: 30th November 2015 – 4th December 2015

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells ROCK!!! Its Christmas guys!!! Santa is gone to come and there is going to be presents under the Christmas tree and kissing under the mistletoe (my favorite partJ ). This is the season of romance where romance is in the air. Everything has a new look and a new spring to it. In every corner you feel the Christmas warmth and the happiness of the season. Every step you take pretty much means a new beginning with the New Year coming up. However it doesn’t seem like our dear screen writers are feeling the moment and it is showing on WP. Quite disappointingly there is no real romance on WP and it is just trouble but there is some hope guys. So let’s get to our dear review.

So this week everything is against everyone. Grand ma is quite alright and the dad is just afraid that her situation seems to be deteriorating. Astha is also at the end of her wits with Aditya’s cruelty getting worse and worse. It kind of seems like the Danthanarayana mansion is finally falling apart. Even though not literally, everyone in that family is not happy at all.

Looking at Aditya first I have to point out that he is not at all a happy soul. Of course he does say that hurting Astha makes him happy but I have a feeling it’s far from it. Let’s get to the beginning of their fairytale love story. Doesn’t it feel a bit too true to be false? Firstly when Aditya sees Astha in the sun and smiles- I have to say it didn’t seem false at all.  I mean as women with boyfriends we all can understand when a guy really loves you. That look Aditya had that day been one where he was actually enjoying seeing Astha in front of him (you can’t hate and give that cute smile he gave, can you?). He seriously seems to be enjoying Astha’s company and cuteness.  How can you fake love but yet see mirages of that girl in front of you? I believe that even though he may have had the revenge plan in mind at the beginning, his plan might have changed with time. By “with time” I mean with him falling in love with Astha. The fact that he actually genuinely loves Astha gets to Aditya. He also knows that he promised never to trust women again. He also knows that he can never make a woman happy in his house. Due to all this he takes his chances and goes forward with his main plan (revenge) even though he is in love with Astha. He is trying to prove to himself that he doesn’t love Astha and that his farther is his priority. I believe it is in this confusion that Aditya is in the moment.

So when this week Aditya falls on top of Astha (it was cute) to get hold of her phone, he was kind of enjoying it. Maybe making her go through all this hell is to see whether Astha is not like Shoba.  This maybe a test by Aditya to see whether Astha is trustable and loving (the one for him). Anyhow even this week Aditya pushes Astha around questioning her every move.
Mr. D/ Shakya had started to doubt Viraj. He believes that it was Viraj who gives the tip to the income tax office. I really don’t understand why he does not doubt Akila. I mean it was Akila who once became a traitor to the D family. Anyhow Viraj is also acting differently. This is because he fears that his relationship with Asha would be out in no time. This fear and the upcoming Singapore tour is kind of making Viraj act out of character these days. However I don’t think that it is a valid reason for Mr. D to doubt his son.

The fact the Mr. D trusts Akila more is no surprise at all. This is because Akila is just like Mr. D. He is a thug and a cheap man who beats his wife. These are two similarities between Mr. D and Akila. This makes Mr. D trust Akila even at the expense of Sonali. I have to say that he is one of my most hated characters. I just hate him as a husband, father an even a human being. He is just a cheap man not even worth being called a human.

We also see that Aditya doubts Akila and he almost caught up with the guy. Akila was with this girl who has been cheated by him but then he sees Aditya. Aditya also sees that something is not right and follows Akila. Anyhow at the last moment Aditya looses track and gives up. So it’s not long before Akila’s lies will be caught up with.

Pramila too is feeling the heat with Malini telling her to give up hopes on Viraj starting his own business. Moreover Viraj just scolds her and doesn’t allow her to come to Singapore with him. So this is pretty much how the D mansion is falling apart. If this falling apart means romance being added to the show then I love it. Even if it is not, I actually don’t care about the D family. So let’s meet again next time with another review of WP J J J J J J.

City Hunter on ITN on weekends

9:15 AM 0 Comments

City hunter is one of my favorite Lee Min Ho dramas and so there will be a lot of fan girl comments all over this post – I am sorry about that. Today we saw the end of the love and boring KDrama West Palace and so now it’s time for some action. This drama I have to point out is very different from any of Lee Min Ho’s other dramas (BOF, The Heirs, P.C). It doesn’t have a young school boy struggling with his emotions. However this drama does have a struggling father and son trope and it is usually available in all Lee Min Ho dramas. So let’s get to the basics of this drama.

The drama was shown on SBS way back in 2011. It got very famous and is one of those dramas which gave 5 awards to Lee Min Ho. You guys all remember that we all fell in love with Lee Min Ho when he first appeared on our TV screens at Gu Jun Pyo on TV Derana. Then he reappeared as Kim Tan and all his characters were dubbed by Isuru. I do hope ITN chooses Isuru to dub Lee Min Ho this time too because I cannot imagine him with any other voice. We will also be meeting Kim Yong Hee from Asaliya Mal again as Lee Min Ho’s girlfriends.

Let’s get to the details of this drama now.

Dad and son

So the story starts with The Rangoon bombing in Burma where many high officials South Korea. It was all planned out by North Korean fighters and now it’s time for revenge. So South Korea sends 21 elite fighters to North Korea for the revenge mission. These 21 elite fighters also include Lee Jin Pyo and Park Moo yul who are best friends. The story revolves around these two friends and their social relationships. In this attack on North Korea most of the elite fighters are killed. While trying to save Lee Park is also killed and Lee is left helpless. When Lee comes again to South Korea he learns that the officials withdrew from the mission in the last moment because it will bring a bad image to South Korea and make America angry. Lee also learns that all their personal details and their data bases have been erased. To avenge this Lee kidnaps his friend Park’s little son and names him Lee Yoon Sung,

Cute oppa :)

He raises little Yoon Sung to take revenge from the 5 officials who abandoned the 21 elite fighters. So Yung Sung (Lee Min Ho) grows up as a revenge machine. He gets a degree from MIT and has two egos. The first Yung Sung is a playboy who loves to have fun. His second ego is a masked fighter who under covers corruption. The citizens call him the City Hunter.

Masked City Hunter

Although he is warned against love he does fall in love with Kim Na-Na. She is played by Kim Yung Hee from Asaliya Mal. She is a body guard of the president who was involved in the killing of the 21 members.

This drama also stars one of the worst KDrama dads I have seen in a while. I don’t know why Lee Min Ho oppa always get the worst dads ever. This time it’s his adoptive dad who pretty much doesn’t like Yung Sung’s views. While Lee wants to kill every official involved Yung Sung wants to show the world who they really are.

In the end however in the end in my view Lee showed that he is a loving dad. Many people hate this guy but for me the fact that he gave his life for Yung Sung just showed to Yung Sung that Lee loves him. IN the end Lee proved to all that he was a hero. It was also awesome that in the end the 21 elites got recognized as national heroes. That was the best ending ever. However this drama did not have as much love and cuteness I wanted to see from a Lee Min oppa drama. There I ended everything with fewer fan girl commentsJ. You guys can watch this drama on weekends from the 5th of December at 6.00pm J J J J J J.

Remember Semmi in Melody of Love ? :)

I Can Hear Your Voice as Hima Thuhina on Sirasa TV

8:58 AM 0 Comments

So this is the latest KDrama on Sirasa TV and I have to say that it is one of the best KDrama’s I have watched ever. It is this awesome but yet kickass drama which captured many hearts in Korea and I know it’s going to do the same in Sri Lanka. Let’s just say that My love from another Star was cute and awesome but I Hear Your Voice is just top notch. I loved this drama and so of course I am going to watch it a second time on Sirasa TV. I have to warn you guys first however. Get ready for warm and coziness. These are the only words with which I can describe this drama. It’s warm, cozy, cuddly, adorable, cute, heartwarming, beautiful etc… etc. Anyways let’s get to the review of this drama.

Beware Spoilers ahead…Read at your own risk…

So let’s first get to the basic details of this drama. This drama was shown on SBS for 18 episodes from June 5th to August 1st 2013. So that would amount to about 50 episodes in Sri Lanka. The drama stars Lee Bo – Young and Lee Jong – suk (Pinocchio main actor). It also has Jung Woong- In as the villain. He is Mishil’s brother in Janahithakami Rajiniya.

Now let’s get to the main plot and characters:

The main character is Park Soo –Ha and he is this cute, bubbly, adorable and handsome young man who is my age (18) and going to school. Everything about this guy (did I mention he is cute?) is perfectly normal except his supernatural power to read minds. He got this ability after he went through this horrible experience when he was just 8 years old. When he was a very young child this little kid saw his father being killed by a murderer who happened to be Mishil’s brother. The dangerous part was when the murderer turned to kill the young boy as well. However there was a young teenage girl who agrees to testify against the murderer.

From that day on he makes a promise to her that he will protect her at all costs. He is one cute guy and this older woman younger man love story is just heartwarming to watch. He even goes to Judo classes so that he could protect himself and the older girl.

His ability to read mind helps him a lot and he helps others too. He helps a friend of his who tries to commit suicide and another who he saves from bullies. He is a very kind hearted and loving guy who however is very lonely. His father was killed while his mother too was murdered and so he is pretty much a loner. There are many scenes where he is all alone and it kind of broke my heart to see this. However it was so sweet to watch that when he meets the all grown up teenage girl again he feels that at last there is someone who loves him and will make sure he is safe all the time.

The lead girl in this drama is Jung Hye - Sung who is a lawyer. She is the girl who helped the then little Soo- Ha. However she is not the girl So Ha expected to meet. This is because he expected her to be kind and loving hearted but when he actually meets her he sees that she is rude, hard hearted and cruel. So of course I did not like her at the beginning.

However as time passes we see that she is a really nice and kind person. This cruel outward shell she shows the world is just what she really is not. When Soo Ha enters her life you see that she is drastically changing and it’s not only this but she also learns what love is. She too has her dark secrets. She was accused of a crime she never committed. This lie told by Do Yeon costs Hye Sung her high school life, their house and her mother’s job.

Do Yeon is the cruel girl who kind of destroyed Hye Sung’s life. She blamed Hye Sung for partly blinding her when in reality Hye Sung was not involved in the accident at all. She does all this so that she will be able to live up to the expectations of her father a famous judge (just like Heom in Melody of Love). However in the end she is a good friend to Hye Sung and Soo Ha. Even though she shows she doesn’t care but in those last episodes we see that she does care.

The second lead of this drama is Gwan Woo who is also in the legal field. He has a crush on Hye Sung but in reality he is not quite the second lead. He is this geeky nerd with specs and all but he is an awesome character. He is funny and awesome (again). He has this problem of social awkwardness at times where he acts quite awkwardly which made me feel so embarrassed for him (you know the moment when you change the channel because it is embarrassing).

Gwan  Woo

Overall in this drama we see grey characters and none of them are black or white. Every character of this drama has their own back story and reasons for why they act the way they do. Even the murderer who is the villain has his reasons for killing and causing all those murders. He is not quite a villain in that sense but rather a human. His life story just reminds me of Cassius form Julius Caesar (Shakespeare).

Something I like about this drama is that it’s so bright and cheerful and even the scenes have this bright and cheerful look. Every time I watch this I feel so happy, cheerful and high. I also have to point out that the theme song Korean and Sinhalese song is just epic. I have to say that Sirasa had done a great job with the song let’s hope they do the same with the dubbing. So hope you guys watch this drama at 7.30 pm on Sirasa TV on weekdays.
