The Marriage – Wassane Premaya Week 7

Week – September 21^st to September 25^th

The marriage finally happened! I mean it was becoming so draggy that I was quite annoyed with all of this melodrama. I mean when one portion of a drama becomes draggy you kind of feel like giving up the drama one sense for all. I was just thinking that this marriage might happen at the last few episodes of the drama so letting the lovers to get to know each other way better than they do now. Anyhow now finally they are in love and are finally married.

This week we finally see the damn wedding we have so waited for patiently in bloody 80 something episodes. So what actually happened at the wedding? Want to guess? Anyone, Someone? Well I will volunteer. The old woman was indeed Malini’s mother and Astha invites her to the wedding. The result is havoc – as always J

The wedding wasn’t a grand event at all. However when the old woman turned up things turned BAD. It turns out that no one actually cares for her. Aditya also becomes all “bitchy” about how they should threat their grandmother. He even says that anyone who is a traitor to their father is no one of his. He even goes to the extent of saying that this includes Astha – Ouch! Astha on the other hand is distressed that they are treating a person like a dog. She begs her father in law to forgive grand ma for this day only and things don’t look good. In the end the old grandma leaves and Astha and Aditya leave to their ~~hell...~~ house.

Well…well Ms “Totally Evil” aka Malini begins her plan to make Astha’s life a living hell. The first plan is to stop the two love birds from sleeping together (literally). She says something about some auspicious time and pulls Astha away from Aditya. I am just like “come on woman I wanted cute and fluffiness here!!!!” and I know she is too bitchy to hear thisJ. So Astha is in Sonali’s room for the night and Aditya is distraught.

Aditya is of course so frustrated (mind you they still didn’t have their honeymoon J ). He moves like batman towards Sonali’s room and sweetly looks at Astha. (OMG I am melting big time …somebody bring a bucket to collect my liquid formJ). She turns and pretty much hugs Aditya in her sleep. Aditya carries her and quietly takes her out of Sonali’s room (big time heart attack here – call an ambulance!!!). Man! This was so so cute and Aditya begs Astha to stay with him and go to Sonali’s room later in the early hours of the morning (awwww what are you guys up to all that time? Sleeping? I don’t think so…These words are working my imagination overtimeJ ). However Malini finds Astha in the morning and things seem horrible for our couple.

We also see a bit of Viraj and Asha’s love story and it helped me ease the anger I had towards Pramitha, serves her right if Viraj runs away with Asha. On the other hand we see how much of a bitch Malini is and how anti feminist she is. She goes to the extent to call her own daughter a failure and a bad omen for the family just because she got away from Akila. Actually Sonali got scolded for not being able to stick her marriage together with Akila. Of course I was just like WTF (mind my French guys). How could someone live with a monster like Akila? Most probably this is what Malini is doing with her husband Shakya (he seems like a monster and we will see that soon enough).

Okay so this week was quite a fun ride. The screen writers really spiced up the plot this time and I like it. The salt the pepper and sauce were just right and I loved it. This time the plot had love (A &A), marriage (A&A), sadness (Sonali), happiness (A&A) and annoyance (Malini). Our A & A (Astha and Aditya) couple are just so cute to watch and this drama is a huge step for the Sri Lankan drama felid. I like the fact that screenwriters are bringing in the story lines about Sonali and Viraj rather than only aim for A &A story line. This all adds up to make the drama’s plot complete. Great job so far screen writers –keep up the good work with as few plot holes as possible. J J J J J J J

Bombay Sweets -Wassane Premaya Week 6

Week- September 14^th to September 18^th

Well this week revolved around a box of Bombay Sweets. It’s like a Shakespeare’s Hamlet “To be or not to be. That is the question”. So this week was all about “To eat or not eat. That is the question.” Sonali’s and Astha’s whole life revolves around a box of Bombay Sweets. Due to this box of sweets we also see Charlie joining the pro – Astha side. Is it too much to take in? Well let’s slowly take it all in…

Well it all revolves around Akila’s plan to poison Sonali’s box of Bombay Sweets and frame Astha for all of it. This according to him will cancel Aditya and Astha’s wedding for ever and ever after. When Charlie gets to know all this he changes the box of Bombay Sweets because he got to know Astha will get framed for this entire “Hullabaloo in Guava Orchard”. This was very sweet of him as this shows that at least this guy has a heart unlike Akila. So since the plan failed miserably Astha and Aditya’s marriage is ready to go.

The best part however is when Astha is told to cook a meal for the Danthanarayana family. This obviously gives a hell of an evil idea to Malini and Pramitha. Anyhow Astha is freaked out and Aditya is also freaked out. This makes him so cutely ask Astha whether she knew to cook at all. Astha obviously says yes and Aditya says then I and everyone in our family will get ready to go to the hospital (lol).

Anyhow after Astha has cooked all the food and “picked flowers with Aditya” (Sri Lankan style) on the phone, Pramitha comes into the kitchen unseen. She puts extra -extra salt into all Astha’s food. Thank god Sonali comes into the kitchen and takes a look at all the food. When the food comes to the table Pramitha and Malini exchange evil smiles, of course the others don’t see it. Foods good and the two evil cronies are flabbergasted.

We see a flashback to what the hell happened after Pramitha left the kitchen. Sonali discovers the “salt issue” and she plans to help Astha cook all the food all over again. OMG what happened next just melted my heart!! Cupid’s arrow hit straight to my heartJ. Aditya comes in and Sonali asks him to help around. It’s so cute when Aditya pulls up his sleeves and gives them a helping hand quite stubbornly.

So that’s what happened the week before last. I am so sorry that I couldn’t give the review faster but I was stuck studying for my Public Law paper – results come next week, wish me luck J J J J J J

Melody of Love from the 21st onwards..

Melody of Love will be shown on Tv Derana from the 21st of this month onwards. It will be shown at 9.30 pm and will clash with Me Adarayai on Sirasa Tv.

I have thank god watched this drama before and so I will not be giving up Me Adarayai. No matter what most of us love Raman and Ishita more than anything. So no matter what drama is shown on other channels we will be watching our regular drama.

I personally believe this was a dumb move by Derana. Firstly the comedy they showed at that 9.30 slot was very good and was loved by audiences. Secondly we were all used to the 8.30 Korean drama time by Tv Derana. So it is a waste that we are stuck with this time slot. Of course you can give up Me Adarayai and watch it every Sunday from 12.00 pm onwards also.

I hope Tv Derana will change the time slots as soon as possible. They did the time slot changing after Princess's Man finished by putting Boys over flowers to the 8.30 slot. Let us hope for the best anyhow. Hope you guys enjoy this drama. So Melody of Love will be shown from the 21st September 2015 at 9.30 pm every weekday.

Week – September 7^th to September 11^th

Talk about a plot twist, this week was a brain twister! Well I could just imagine the screen writers hiding somewhere and writing the “all awesome” plot for this week. This week however we did see some rare plot holes and voila I am here to point them out to you too. If you are wondering about this review’s title then let’s get to that first.

Dananjaya who acts as Aditya’s brother is cute and I loved him after his characters in “Adaraniya Poorima” – TV Derana and “Apeksha” - ITN. However in this drama we see him as a philandering husband and well I kind of like his character. I am really happy that Pramitha is getting cheated on and I know you guys are shocked. However I really understand why he is cheating on Pramitha. Look at Pramitha; she is just a gossip case ready to destroy anyone’s family life. Have you seen one time where she loves her husband? Have you guys ever seen her getting all cute with her husband? No! No! No! This is the only answer we can give.

On the other hand Aditya’s brother’s new girlfriend is pretty awesome. She has a very nice perspective on life as a woman and I like that about her. I like the fact that she was brave enough to take a risk to love a married man. Hell no! I am not advising anyone to fall in love with a married man and don’t be afraid my future husband, I will not fall in love with a married man J I am conservative person and I don’t approve this kind of crap. However in the context of this story her behavior is perfectly alright. I mean it’s a good addition to the plot. Moreover Pramitha has married her husband only for the money as revealed by her mother.

Then comes all the cuteness!!!! Aditya and Astha are the best couple ever!!! This week we see the scene where Aditya and Astha get married. Here Aditya is as cute as before, he says that he will make everyone to like their marriage for Astha’s sake. To make things better he asks Astha why she fell in love with him. Astha playfully replies that it was Aditya’s arrogance – lol!!

However this happiness is destroyed by the newspapers (yes once again!). Last week we saw a servant at the hotel watching Aditya threatening Astha. So this week the screen writers brought this story in and we see our loving couple in trouble again. The newspapers are making all a “big deal” and Akila and Charlie (not surprisingly) are behind this evil plan. The Danthanarayana’s are of course suspecting the Jayasekra’s and Aditya’s mother even calls them up to threaten them. I have a feeling that Aditya is suspecting Astha and she too notices it.

The older woman that Astha takes to the elder’s home is Ms Danthanarayana’s mother. Its not for nothing that the screen writers bring in a new characters and make Ms Danthanarayana cry over her wedding photo’s. Obviously the wedding photos had a picture of her mother and father whom she kicked out because of her wicked husband (going along with the old woman’s story).

Now for the major plot hole. If you guys have not noticed already the anniversary party/ ceremony never actually materialized. Dear screen writers did you forget to end that sub plot with all the excitement of the main plot? Come on guys please pay attention to this kind of things because all the Wassane Premaya fans don’t want it to end up like Sujatha. So this is all that happened this week and let’s see how the story proceeds in the future.

Sujatha – This week’s review

All was well and then hell comes forth. All of a sudden our dear lovers are breaking up, the Sajith’s proposal seems to work and Shakya is remanded and he has decided to leave for good. Too much to take in one go? Well then let’s take it all in slowly.

Shakya and Sujatha break up and everyone except the lovers are very happy. Sirasa TV cunningly brought in the “long lost mother” of Shakya’s to cause problems big time. To make things worse she is a Tiger mother who wants the very best of Shakya whether he likes it not. I really don’t know how the hell Doctor Thenuwara fell in love with this devil of a woman. It’s just so not practical for such a good, understanding, loving and kind man to marry such a woman. By taking out doctor Thenuwara Sirasa just took away one of the only characters who openly accepted Shakya and Sujatha’s relationship.

Now for the major plot hole. What the hell happened to Madhini? What was the secret she was hiding? What is the 20 year history between doctor Thenuwara and Madhini? I thought Madhini is Shakya’s mother but now everything is turning upside down and Madhini is lost and her secret never to be known.

All of a sudden Sujatha’s evil granny returns to her former glory/evilness. She is never going to make Sujatha’s marriage with Shaky happen. Thank god for this because at least there is one character who wants Shakya and Sujatha to be together even though with evil intention.

To make things worse Shakya’s mother accidentally knocks down Sujatha and Shakya takes the blame. Being such a dumb mother she lets him take the blame and then watch him being taken away by the police. The whole Sujatha family is against Shakya now and to take away the guilt she feels Shakya’s mother makes responsibility of Sujatha. Then the worthless Chanuka and Sajith are taking advantage of the situation to make the marriage thing work.

Sujatha’s mother doesn’t trust Shakya’s mother at all, she is now blaming Shakya for the whole thing and saying that Shakya did it all for revenge. Shakya’s mother listens to all this and does nothing at all to defend Shakya. Chanuka and Sajith are acting like asses threatening Shakya’s mother. They are blaming the whole thing on Shakya. They just want to take Sujatha and take her to a private hospital but Shakya’s mother is clearly against it. Really the anger I feel towards these two dumbos is so intense!!! On the other hand Niroshan is being the total idiot by not supporting Shakya. He knows Sujatha’s life will be destroyed by this marriage but he just lets it be. I mean it is hard to even imagine he was in love a few 50 episodes ago.

Shakya on the other hand is going through hell. Firstly his relationship with Sujatha ends apparently, then he watches her meet an accident and now he is to leave to become a doctor. He is pretty much in an emotional mess and he quite rightly blames his mother for it. His anger towards her is taken out of his servant and his mother notices it. He explains to his “not at all understanding “mother that he wanted to do all this with Sujatha and right now he just wants to give it all up. She says that Sujatha is under her care and not to worry (as far as I see this is the main reason he should worry!). He says that he will only leave if he can meet Sujatha again before he leaves. Reluctantly his mother agrees to some extent. This is only because she wants him to be a doctor and not because she approves their relationship.

So many obstacles seem to point to one direction – a possible quick ending? Will Sirasa do the same thing that Jodha Akbar did? The possibility of this happening is a big No! Sirasa wouldn’t be able to finish such a big, complicated plot without leaving a lot of loose ends and that would be a big blow for the fans as well as Sirasa Tv. This is because their 9.00 pm drama Uthum Pathum is seeing a possible end right now even though it is becoming a bit of a drag. If Sujatha also ends now Sirasa may run out of dramas to put to these time slots. So Sirasa may keep the plot dragging until Nehara comes back or bring a drastic plot twist and change the actress playing Sujatha. Lets meet again in another drama review J J J J J J

Badges of Fury (2013)- Movie review.

Do you want for an enjoyable Saturday night movie? Want something simple and short? Want comedy, action and tragedy all in one? Well then this is the movie for you and I have to tell you that this movie is so good.

This movie was not of any interest to ma at first due to the fake action and blunt plotline. To make things worse the dubbing was not very good and at first you feel the voices don’t match the characters. Yes this drama is Chinese and it kind of reminded me of “Robin B Hood” Anyhow I gave it some time and the plot changed drastically and even though not a very good movie, at the end of it I felt very happyJ. The plot is very simple with no complications and we see not so connected events happening out of the blue only to see that these scenes were dreams. So let’s go through the plot very quickly.

The story follows a set of police detectives who never succeed at anything they do. We see this when they fail their mission just because they don’t work as a team. The team includes Wang (Wen Zhang) – a Mr. Nobody who has really good martial art skills but doesn’t have the brain to go with it. Then there is the senior officer (Jet Li) who couldn’t get retirement because his team failed all their missions. He is a good martial artist and has the brains but because of Wang he always fails. The lady detective is the one who has the brains, is single and has no martial art skills at all.

These three dumbos are always the failures in their department and it seems like they will remain so till their retirement until the “smiling murders” start to happen. In this case the victims all died with a smile in their faces while they are doing things. The only connection between these murders is that all of them are men and that they fell in love with an actress and then moved on to have relationships with her sister. So the three idiots believe it is the actress who kills these men. They then find out that she has nothing to do with all this. At the end it seems that all this was done by the actress’s uncle who wanted to rob her off her inheritance. Guess who finds all this out and becomes the hero? Well it’s Wang and he gets a promotion and finds himself in love with the actress’s “supposed evil” sister.

At the end of the day it is such an enjoyable ride. This is because the comedy makes us laugh ourselves to death and the simple plot leaves us nothing to think about. At the end of the movie we are all happy with nothing much to think about. It is a easy to follow and easy to forget plot. So this makes this movie the perfect medicine for a broken heart or a bad day. I really think you should give movie a chance but please don’t compare this with Hollywood movies ( plot wise) or to Thai movies (action wise). Enjoy. J J J J J J .

Ananthayen Aa Tharu Kumara – 2nd week review

Song Yi! Song Yi! Song Yi! Man I love this drama. Kim Soo Hyun oppa is the best and this drama is proof for that. Moon Embraces the Sun was where we all first fell in love with Kim Soo Hyun oppa and now this drama is just making everyone go mad over him. Do Min Jo I so wish that you were my lecturer at University cause man, you are awesomeJ!!!! Let’s just get to this week review without dwelling to much on my fan girl openingJ.

Do Min Jo is yet not very sure who exactly Song Yi is and so he is trying to keep his distance. Of course this is not successful because Song Yi lives right next door to him. Mr. Alien is having problems with his emotionsJ. His lawyer friend notices this and points it out but Do Min Jo just keeps his mouth shut. He ends up taking Song Yi to hospital and staying there with her long enough to warn her to keep away from water. She some how persuades him to get her some books. These books turn out to be romance books and Do Min Jo is pretty embarrassed to even ask them from the shop keeper J

Song Yi on the other hand is just after the surgery. She feels that she has lost some weight and is quite enjoying her break. This is all until her mother turns up with the camera crew and made a big drama. Song Yi just kicks everyone out. She is hurt but well what to do. Anyhow her mind is kept away from all this by the upcoming wedding of one of her friends.

Hilariously she finds that her favorite slippers are missing and she suspects that Do Min Jo has them. Of course he does. He has robbed them so that his nightmare of her drowning wouldn’t come true. LOL J This part was so hilariousJ. Anyhow Song Yi gets a new set of the same slippers and attends the wedding which is held on a boat – oh no! Do Min Jo meanwhile see all this on television and he knows that his nightmare is coming true. Well again Song Yi’s rival has worn something similar to hers and so hell comes forth anywayJ.

Song Yi’s rival is having a relationship with the eldest son of a rich family. The younger son of the same family is Song Yi’s friend and he continuously proposes to her. This elder brother is the bad character and he kills anyone who is against him. I believe Song Yi’s rival will be the next in line as she is forcing him to go public with their relationship and marry her. Song Yi notices the secret glances they give each and I believe she feels suspicious. Main while on TV Do Min Jo sees a video about Song Yi’s younger days and he sees that she is the one he has been waiting for the past 400 years. Also to make things better he also sees her saying her first love was the man who saved her on that one night (this is Do Min Jo) and also that she will be able to recognize him if she sees him again (lol J )

In the Joseon time flashbacks we see the alien Do Min Jo taking the little girl to her family. The family pretends they are all happy. However when the little girl was a sleep the mother comes and strangle her in her bed. The father poisons Do Min Jo’s food. This makes him paralyzed and he sees his fellow aliens leave without him.

You guys could now rewatch the episodes you have missed every Saturday at 2.30 pm straight after Swapna reruns J

So this week we will see who was pushed out of the boat and who pushed her. Also we will see who gets caught in all this and how Song Yi gets caught in all this. So lets meet again next week with the 3^rd week’s review J J J J J J
