Why u should watch Jodha Akbar over Swapna?

12:29 AM 0 Comments
Jodha Akbar Vs Swapna (on top)

Well there are two Indian dramas going on prime time in two of our favorite TV channels.  Sirasa TV started with Diya Aur Bhati Hum / Swapna about a year ago. On the other hand Hiru TV also started showing Jodha Akbar this year. Both these dramas are in the “prime time” of Sri Lankan television viewing times – 8.30pm every weekday. I myself started off with Swapna and I quite liked the love between Suraj and Swapna/Sadhya.
Look at that face she looks like a mad woman!!

We went along with the story of a young woman who was forced to marry a man whom she didn’t love. She was forced to forget her dream of becoming a policewoman. With time her husband realizes her dream and helps her achieve it. Of course along the way there are many obstacles especially their own family (Rathi family) and their monster of a mother.

On the other hand we have the epic love story of the greatest King in the Mughal Dynasty and his Rajpuit Princess/Wife- Jodha.  Jodha’s hatred towards Jalal Udin/ King Akbar turns into love as she becomes the Queen Mother of the Mughal Kingdom.

Okay. In recent time throughout Swapna/ Diya Aur Bhati Hum’s plot we see stupidity. I mean as a modern Sri Lanka audience we have moved away from the extremely conservative patriarchal society long ago. Also we have seen wonderful mother in laws and beautiful family lives all over the world. With this when Swapna spreads the negative image of a god damn family which is never happy we get quite mad. I mean no matter what Swapna her mother in law always hates her. Moreover that woman is so jealous that Suraj loves Swapna so much and she seems to take revenge from them. In that family even if a baby poops on the floor it is always Swapna’s fault. Hilariously recently they have this thing where Swapna’s future as a policewoman depends on three clay pots. For every mistake she makes a pot is broken and her chances to be a policewomen are reduced. I mean come on that is so unrealistic. She could easily get divorced and get a job with her college degree and win her dream, but she doesn’t and this annoys me. We live in the 21st century and this is what we see.

Jodha Akbar these days has a very engaging plot of how Jodha saves the King from a woman who wants to poison and kill him. This drama has a very loving mother in law who wants Jodha and Jalal to lead a loving life. She will do anything for Jodha’s and Jalal’s happiness. Moreover Jodha is a skilled martial artist with great knowledge and ability in sword fighting and archery. She is beautiful, talented and extremely skilled. To add to this she is a strong woman unlike Swapna, who half the time look like a mad woman always looking for Suraj’s help and ever ready to give up. Jodha on the other hand will give her life to save the King; she pretty much is a “one woman army” for Jalal/Akbar. Of course she too faces problems but she faces them and she never gives up. She indeed is a role model for every woman out there.

Also Jalal is an arrogant brute of a man before Jodha comes around. Their constant battering is quite cute to watch. Jalal/Akbar is no sweet hearted man. He is proud and aggressive and quite an Alpha male. However at the same time there is cuteness in him as he will do anything to protect Jodha and he loves her with his whole heart. On the other hand there is Suraj from Swapna. He is pretty much a sissy in my eyes. He doesn’t go against his mother even when he knows she is wrong and most of the time he is crying. His crying I have to point out is so annoying. I mean when Jalal cries it is so cute and the sadness gets to us unlike Suraj’s tears.

Overall Jodha Akbar leaves us with a sense of satisfaction which Diya Aur Bhati Hum/Swapna doesn’t leave you with. While Swapna only leaves you stressing every day, Jodha Akbar relaxes you. Also the family net around Jodha and Akbar/Jalal is strong and supportive unlike in Swapna where everyone is backstabbing everyone else. Only Suraj and Swapna are the ideal couple – so typical isn’t it. I believe if you want to enjoy what you watch then you should choose Jodha Akbar. If you want to hate what you watch and see trouble everyday then you should watch Diya Aur Bhati Hum/Swapna. Out of all this Jodha Akbar stands out and right now I will give it 9/10 on my drama scale…while giving Diya Aur Bhati Hum/ Swapna 3/10.

Wassane Premaya VS Sujatha.

12:15 AM 0 Comments

Sujatha has been going on for a year and we have quite enjoyed it. However recently the drama is getting very draggy and very boring. Firstly we have Niroshan who is willing to marry and isn’t given a plot line. He is just Sujatha’s brother and we don’t know hat will happen to him. Secondly we have Shakya and Sajith’s battle to win Sujatha’s heart. Thirdly we have a whole story arc of Sujatha as “Trishula” the undercover journalist. Everything seems o be quite fine until we start to see the huge plot gaps. Sujatha just uses Shakya and Sajith just for her security as she is being Trishula. She uses Shakya to get what she wants most of the time. Shakya like a idiot give sup his education time hoping that one day Sujatha will like him. This whole plot makes the audience extremely bored as we kind of start to not care whether Sujatha lives or dies. Since there are continuous problems coming Sujatha’s way and she is bloody asking for it most of the time anyway we feel sick and tired.

On the other hand Wassane Premaya on Hiru TV is a drama full of delight. You get the thrill of excitement of love while also getting a hair rising feeling about the soo rich Danthanarayana’s dark secrets. Astha and Aditya at the moment hate each other and would kill each other if kept in the same room. However we get the feeling that Aditya has been betrayed by his former lover at some point in his life. This explains why he is so misogynist. However after yesterday’s episode we see that Aditya’s father Shakya is a very good loving man.
Aditya and his family

On the other hand his mother is a bitch and that explains why Aditya hates her. The marriage proposed between Astha and Aditya was quite a shock but both of them hated it. In the coming episode we see that Astha’s loving elders home is going to be bought over by Aditya’s company. However Aditya doesn’t know about this and I think this will give a reason for Astha and Aditya to become closer.

This drama’s music is just epic and the colour quality is just beautiful. The theme song itself is a huge hit right now and worth listening to.  The background sounds also help us to understand the situations and the emotions of the characters so well. This is such a huge budget drama where the money is well spent. The plot itself right now is rock solid and the shots are taken so well. The plot also is not at all draggy and makes us want to know more which a good sign is.

So I think t is time to bid adieu to Sujatha and watch Wassane Premaya. Out of all Sri Lankan dramas I have watched this is one of the best. I have a feeling in my bones that this drama is going to capture the hearts of our Sri Lankan audiences. Of course since money has been spent well for this drama unlike in Sujatha I think it is our duty to watch this drama and give it high viewer ratings. This would tell the directors and producers what we want from Sri Lankan drama. Let us set the bar high so that the next drama gets better…Well done Hiru Tv for this gem of a drama and also its producer and director ..keep up the good work…On my drama scale I give Wassane Premaya 10/10 right now and Sujatha  4/10…

Me Adarayai / Yeh Hai Mohabbatien 2015 spoilers…

12:06 AM 0 Comments

Hello! With Raman and Ishita falling in love rapidly Me Adarayai is becoming better and better. So I come again full of spoilers for our impatient audience. Well to start with Mihir’s and Mihika’s wedding preparations are going on full swing. Anyway as you have already seen Ashok is showing an unwanted interest on Mihika and well we are afraid. On the other hand Ishita finds a Rakki** bracelet at Mihir’s house. So now let’s clear the doubts with full on spoilers…
**A Rakki bracelet is given by a sister to a brother on the Rakki festival day in India.

BEWARE SPOILERS AHEAD READ IF YOU DARE!!!!

Firstly Ashok’s and Shagun’s wedding is going to start. Anyhow Ashok’s interest in Mihika gets worse and worse and Mihika has nothing to do about it. The Bachelors’ Party for Ashok is also held. Due to unknown reasons I believe Adi sends Ishita to Ashok’s party and not to Shagun’s bridal shower. Here Ishita arrives to see only men and well as almost all drunk men they start to harass her. In this group Parmith, Suraj and Ashok are also there. So to the rescue comes Raman Kumar Balhar and Mani. They beat the shit out of the villains and Raman quietly comforts Ishita.

Okay Mani mentioned here is one of Isitha’s best male friends and this causes Raman to be jealous. He is continuously saving Ishita and Raman- our poor Raman is struggling with his emotions. Well you guys will see a cute story arc here with Raman getting all emotional. Mani comes way before Ashok’s wedding and will become a part of Isitha’s extended family. If I remember correctly Raman thinks Ishita and Mani are in love – our poor poor Raman…

Mihika is raped on Shagun’s wedding day by Ashok and well Shagun gets a shock of her life. However Ashok threatens Mihika and in the end somewhere in November we will see them both married and Mihir in depression.

Ishita brings Parmith back to Balhar house and ties a Rakki on his hand. She forgives him so that she can save Simmi’s marriage. Simmi however with time will realize that Parmith is a cheat and will tell Raman to kick him out of their house.

Ishita finds out that Mihir’s sister is actually Shagun and that it was she who sent the Rakki Bracelet. Moreover she also finds out that Porima Prakash is actually Mihir and Shagun’s mother.  Before Ishita knew this she gets quite jealous about an affair Raman had with a girl in her cookery class with Porima Prakash. It all happened to be a set up by Porima Prakash and Raman tells her the whole story.

Romi and Sarika’s love becomes serious and she finds out she is pregnant. Balhar’s will tell her to take an abortion and she leaves Romi without a word. Raman and Ishita however want Sarika and Romi to live happily ever after like them as a married couple. We still don’t know what will happen to this story arc yet…we will have to see.

These above mentioned events do not happen in the order they are written. I jus wrote it as the story came to my mind. However this is the story for this whole year 2015. I will update the data as the story goes along…keep reading Sri Lanka’s premier Entertainment Blog lifeasasrilankan.blogspot.com for the latest news in the entertainment sphere.

Uthum Pathum – the last few episodes…..?

5:54 AM 1 Comments
Kalum (L) Upala (C) Mayantha (R)

Uthum Pathum has been show on Sirasa TV for quite sometime. I never personally liked due to its lack of a strong plot and under tones of anti feminism. The whole story revolves around Upala and her love for her cousin Kalum. Now Kalum is also loved by Varuni who is also Kalum’s cousin. Kalum’s parents take a loan from Varuni’s parents and to pay this off a marriage is fixed between Varuni and Kalum. On the other hand Kalum has already given his heart to Upala. Upala is the stark contrast of Varuni being all goody good – also she is very pretty. However Upala has another person who secretly loves and protects her and this is Mayantha. Mayantha’s mother is a friend of Upala’s mother. He is the owner of Sri Lankan Food Company and has the food recipes which many want to get their hands on – including Varuni’s father. He is also Upala’s boss as she works in his Company.
Varuni (L) Varuni's mother(C) Upala(R)

However in the recent episodes we have seen that Kalum has a liking towards Varuni as Upala becomes more of a fighter than a damsel of distress. Kalum wants to go a head with his and Varuni’s marriage while he also wants to continue his affair with Upala. Moreover he is lying to her and asks her to rob Mayantha’s food recipes. However Mayantha trusts Upala and give her his recipes to safeguard since he doesn’t trust his fiancé Chamarie who is marrying him for money.
Mayantha's fiance

In the end I believe that Mayantha will be able to marry Upala. I just hate Kalum and his third rate ways. He is simply cheating on Upala.  He has some kind of a relationship with Varuni but when Upala doesn’t answer his calls he suspects her. Mayantha is everything Kalum is note. He is not only cute but so kind hearted and caring. He will give Upala his life if it will make her fall in love with him. However the most annoying thing is that Upala can’t do anything on her own.
Sudu Hamineh
Vishwa as Mayantha

Also she is far too good. Any way with a bit of punk given by her cousin Sudu Hamineh, Upala is becoming more of a 21st century woman. Any how after Uthum Pathum finishes the Kim Soo Hyun’s drama “My Love from another star” will most probably be shown in this time slot.
The next drama

Will Shakya ever tell Sujatha he loves her?

5:45 AM 0 Comments

Well “Sujatha” has become quite boring in recent times. The current plot of Shakya’s love for Sujatha Vs Sajith’s love for Sujatha is becoming draggy. I mean I would love it if Sujatha falls in love with Shakya. They are a match made in heaven. Firstly they are both medical students. Secondly they have known each other from school times and the thirdly and most importantly he is so cute. I mean Sajith was a lovely boy when he was a kid but now the actor Sirasa has chosen just annoys me. In the Sinhalese term he just looks like a “gadawila”.
Sujatha and Shakya

I know Sujatha has been adopted and all but even so how can she fall in love with her cousin. She just doesn’t seem the kind. Shakya on the other hand is trying hard to be “Mr. Sensitive”. He does all this because he heard Sujatha say that she likes Sensitive guys. He even goes to the extent of naming a kitten Sujatha and he saved “Sensitive”. The whole story of how hard hearted studies only Shakya falling hard for Sujatha was so cute. However in recent episodes Sujatha seems to be playing around with his emotions. It has come to the point where he cannot even study because he is troubled about Sujatha.
Younger Shakya and Sujatha

Then there is the whole story arc of Sujatha being the undercover journalist “Trishula”. I loved the fact that only Shakya gets to know of this and not Sajith. Also the fact that Shakya gets all protective with Sujatha and tries to keep her safe without her knowledge – it is also quite cute. However I wish that Sujatha too falls in love with Shakya and not let it just be unrequited love. I just hope that the plot will gain speed and make Sujatha to fall in love with Shakya. This will not only retain viewers for Sirasa but make it fun to watch Sujatha again.
Will Shakya Succeed?

I believe the plot has too many problems coming up and there seems to be no real progress. It is just becoming so boring to watch Sujatha like all the other Sirasa TV dramas before. Getting back to the point Shakya saying the three magic words seem quite far away in the drama. Sirasa TV is just dragging this section to increase the number of viewers. From what I am seeing it is not a trick that is working.

In the end if Sujatha does fall for Sajith then my reader readers it is time for you all to bid “adieu” to Sujatha and watch Wassane Premaya on Hiru Tv.
Hope Sajith doesn't get Sujatha...

“Not so good looking actors” syndrome – causing low viewer rating in Sri Lanka?

5:34 AM 1 Comments

Sri Lanka has some beautiful Sri Lankan girls acting in our dramas making us want to watch them. The only problem we audiences have right now is the not so “good looking actors” syndrome. As the Sri Lankan audience we have been exposed into quite a lot of foreign dramas. Due to this we have high expectations when it comes to handsomeness of actors in dramas. I mean most of some of the new generation of actors just look like monkeys and “gadawila”. As a Sri Lankan audience we have become accustom to seeing handsome men such as Lee Min Ho (Korean Dramas-Boys Over Flowers), Kim Soo Hyung (Korean Dramas-Moon embraces the Sun), Karen Patel (Indian Dramas-Mere Adarayai) and Stephen Amell (Arrow). With this when we see the leads of dramas such as Sujatha’s “Sajith” we feel disgusted.
Vishwa

To make thinks worse most of our dramas have such weak and repetitive plots which make us cringe. I am not saying we should promote “Flower Boy (In the Korean Sense)” culture in Sri Lanka. I am just saying it is time producers and directors understand that Sri Lankan audiences have also changed with time. I mean with a not so good looking lead and a weak plot and bad acting we just feel like going online and watching an Indian or Korean Drama. English and Korean dramas usually have strong plots good acting and handsome leads. As I said before the standard of beauty and talent needed to become an actress are pretty high in Sri Lanka. However it doesn’t seem so for male leads.

Saranga
I mean I have seen some dramas in which actors look like monkeys. I am not saying that beauty/handsomeness says it all but I am just saying it is time Sri Lankan dramas move with time. It is time to dig in and find some good handsome models and give them a chance to act. I mean Saranga, Vishwa and Akila are doing a very good job. We love them but what will come of the future of Sri Lankan drama after them. It will just come to a point where no one will watch Sri Lankan dramas because of their weak plots and ugly actors.
Amila

Of course there have been some new good looking actors such as Madava from Sujatha but that is all. It is time to give actors such as Hermal Ranasingha a chance to act a lead role. As Sri Lankan audiences we are just sick of seeing not so good looking actors and weak plots. I mean if I have Wi-Fi or 3G obviously I would chose to watch a Korean or and English drama without watching a Sri Lankan one.
Karen Patel

The handsome Korean actors.

It is not just the “not so good looking actor’s” syndrome we have got but a thirst for a change in the drama industry. The only such change I have seen so far recently was Wassane Premaya on Hiru TV and Acid on TV Derana. TV Derana’s Acid specially has taken in some new faces making it a very new experience for us. On the other hand Wassane Premaya has a strong plot so far with no plot holes making the viewers wait impatiently for the next episode of Astha’s and Aditya’s love story.

Madawa
I just hope the standard of Sri Lankan dramas increase to meet the world standards. Producers and directors should understand that we are watching dramas for entertainment and not because we have nothing else to do. So far to me only TV Derana and Hiru TV have understood it. It is time we get what we want and just not watch what they give us to watch. I mean in the near future Sri Lankans will all give up our dramas for dubbed ones. We watch those because the leads are handsome and are never the same and the plots are so different. I just believe it is time to expect the same outward good looks from our actors as our actress and make dramas with diversity and strong plots.
Stephen Amell

Wassane Premaya on Hiru Tv on weekdays at 8.30pm

8:39 AM 0 Comments

Hello here is another awesome drama on Hiru Tv which is going to start from today. The picture quality and the camera shots for this drama are awesome. You could see that money has been spent well. It is such a high quality drama that I cannot wait to see it.

The cast is well chosen. Saranga is chosen as the main protagonist. The former Sirasa Kumariya is acting as the female lead. Saranga plays a very arrogant, stubborn role of a rich businessmen’s son. On the other hand the female lead is one naughty girl who gets everyone into trouble, kind of like Yoori and Chan from My Girl/ Thatu Ahimi Samanali.

Saranga as the main protagonist

The love between these two arrogant people will be beautiful to see. Just imagine a perfect love story. Just imagine the combination an arrogant businessmen with a naughty troublemaker.
The naughty trouble making female lead.
The quality of the drama is also very very good. It kind of reminds me of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, from Star Plus. Yes we might be seeing a Sri Lankan version of Khushi and Arnav. I have high hopes for this drama. From the trailer itself I believe we should give it higher viewer ratings. Hope this drama is as awesome as Binara Mali – the drama which ended last week.

Hope you watch this drama and enjoy it…….keep reading lifeasasrilankan.blogsppot.com to get the latest Entertainment news in the Sri Lankan Entertainment Sphere…..Watch Wassane Premaya every week day at 8.30 pm. If you want these kind of high quality dramas then give high viewership for this drama to encourage the producers and directors.

Atlantis Season 2 soon on Hiru Tv

8:29 AM 2 Comments

Hello again!! Agents of Shield is ending very quickly. Now Hiru Tv has returned with the show everyone loved as much as Merlin. This story follows the Demi god Jason and how he lands on Atlantis. He and his friends have such adventures that sometimes we start to laugh out loud.

Pythagoras and Hercules are both Jason best friends. Half way through the drama we meet Medusa. She is destined to be destroyed by Jason. On the other hand Jason is destined to save Atlantis. This was the storyline of Season 1.

Our Heroes
Season 2 starts with the death of the Princess’s father – the King. The Princess is Jason’s lover to some extend, she becomes   the Queen. However she is to battle for her Kingdom against her evil stepmother, the mother Queen. So the Season two is all about Jason fighting to save Atlantis from the Evil Step Mother after she becomes Queen.
My fave dramas both togather

The Sri Lankan fans love Atlantis as much as we loved Merlin. However this series was cancelled by BBC as they did to Merlin, which is very sad since we loved it. I loved the adventures of Jason and his friends, especially the scene where Pythagoras peeks at a naked Jason even when Hercules told him not to do so. The humor is always brought forward be Hercules and Pythagoras.
Jason our Demi god hero:)

So lets us enjoy the journey…let us again go through Jason becoming a dog, Pythagoras being cursed and Hercules’s love for Medusa…..lets join in the fun very soon every Saturday and Sunday at 8.30 pm….keep reading to know more about what is going on the entertainment sphere in Sri Lanka with lifeasasrilankan.blogspot.com
