Drama Queen

Hey guys how was the week? Sri Lanka lost their series against kiwis but every Sri Lankan knows that Sri Lanka has a high chance of winning the world cup. Well the executive presidency is still not abolished ...so much for CHANGE:-) One of my good friends who helped me start this blog told me that I write with attitude - do I? Is it good? Anyway time for the recap....oh how much I wish our president was Mr Mahinda Rajapakshe. The new president's economic and tax policies are causing havoc in Sri Lanka 's business field. Anyway now time for recap real time:

Patiya's men are having fighting practices even in the night. The uncle minister divides the group into two main groups the bad fighters and the good fighters. The good fighters are to go to Haburankatha while the bad fighters are to be the Western gate gaurds.The coup is going to start the night before the elephant and angampora festival. The former Yakaladoli points out that the scholar/astrologer said that the auspicious time is on the day after the festival. Nobody listens to her. The fighters don't like the idea of killing aSinhala King. Patiya Bandara says yes nobody can kill a Sinhalese King so I the one with the blood of the late King Wimaladaramasuriya will lead you to Haburankatha and kill the Kundasalaya(insult to the present King's Prince name).

The noble Lady is going to Haburankatha Palace. Her servants sing her praises. She is carried in a open carriage and her parade is beautiful to watch. They continue to also sing praises to the King even their driver joins in. The mother of the noble Lady is also going in an open carriage.

The Western gate guards are recruited by the bad minister the good minister comes and watches them. The good minister enters the main Palace. Daskon narrates and writes on his journal that even though the Palace is getting ready for festival how all the ministers are suspecting each other and thinking about who is planning a coup. The good minister has come to meet Daskon I think and he gets up to greet and meet him. Daskon tells the minister that they are both thinking of the same thing and why are we not telling everyone about this. The good minister says he met the main priest and he is working according to how he said. He continuous to say that he is suspicious of Yalagoda the bad minister and that he had sent the uncle minister to meet Patiya Bandara. Daskon is shocked he looks like his worst nightmare has become reality.They continue to speak the King is to go to Habuarankatha tomorrow. Daskon says he is not going to go with the King but with the Queen consort.The good minister says Daskon is the only one he could trust Daskon says you are the only one I trust too. The good minister points out that the King shouldn't be sent to Haburankatha alone. Out of the blue Yalagoda the bad minister comes and says there we have finished our work we have recruited more guards to the Western gate than required. Daskon and the good minister are shocked they both remember the good minister saying that walls have ears - did Yalagoda hear everything?

Someone is spying on the Noble Lady's carriage. They are unaware of the spies the servants continue to sing praise to their Lady very happily - pls don't tell me they are going to be killed by Patiya Bandara's spies. Pls don't tell me they are going to be killed:-( We stop here.....to be continued tomorrow.....

Hey guys this is the 26th episode:-)




 Daskon is shocked by the Queen consort's answer. The Queen consort asks why the King goes to the Haburankatha Palace. Daskon says the Kandyan kingdom anyway has many Palaces where the Kings and Princes stays. The Haburankatha Palace, Sankadagala Palace, Kundasala Palace and the Nilamà Palace. The Queen consort is disturbed to learn that the King would not be residing alone in the Haburankatha Palace he will be there with his consorts. Daskon says that the Queen consort should get ready to go to the Haburankatha Palace with Daskon and that this is the message Daskon brought to her.


Yalagoda the bad minister is in the main Palace hall of the ministers. Patiya Bandara's uncle the comes he too is a minister. They laugh evil about the fact that the King dug his own grave by taking the West gate guards the angampora fighters and swordsmen with him to Haburankatha Palace. The bad minister says that the King is asking about his 2nd consort's health in the minister's meeting with his father in law Kappitipola nilamá which is very inappropriate. The uncle minister says well this will go on only for a short while. The west gate gaurds are going to be divided into two one the best swordsmen are to be sent to Haburankatha Palace with the King where they are going to kill the King. The bad swordsman/guards will be killed by Patiya Bandara's rebels. The bad minister is going to send Patiya Bandara to Haburankatha. The uncle asks why this is . I feel that the bad minister is going to mislead Patiya Bandara and take up the throne. The good minister comes in all of a sudden. The bad minister couldn't answer the uncles question. They fake that they were talking about the new recruits. The uncle asks the good minister why his traditional head gear is not designed with Waduga designs like the other ministers. The good minister replies that his head gear was woven by Kuveni's(the first Queen of Lanka she was a native of our island and got married to Indain Prince Vijaya - before she was disposed of so that the King could marry an Indain princess) people so why should he be a slave of the Wadugas.

The bad minister says after the good minister leaves that it is of him that he is afraid.

Patiya Bandara in his hid out asks all his men to support him in the battle to get the throne. All the rebels pledge their support.

 The good minister sees Daskon talking with Kapitipola nilamà. They talk of the rebels and the possibility that they would attack the palace. The good minister says that being careful is good. Daskon says the King thinks not much about the Patiya Bandara. The good minister says that they should protect the King.

Patiya Bandara's rebels are practicing in the night in front of Prince Patiya Bandara and his mother. To be continued next week......
Recap.... the noble Lady starts her journey to Haburankatha. The uncle tells the rebels to go to Haburankatha and cut the King to little bits. The rebels are shocked.....let's meet again next week on Saturday and Sunday:-)

Hey guys time for Daskon episode 25 recap:-) Seems like I'm getting a touch screen PC instead of a Laptop - hey I'm alright with it. Ha have u guys heard the new president is not going to abolish Executive Presidency within hundred days - are the new president's supporters happy?:-) o.k. I'm posting my blog posts on FB so now you could catch up on Daskon recaps easily. Can't wait for Fast and Furious 7 does anyone know when it comes out? Anyway guys you should watch Goddess of Fire on Rupavahini after Yi San. I'm really sad to watch Yi San now cause the new Crown Prince is going to die and Song Yeon is also going to die and her unborn child and the King - how sad can a drama be also Goddess of Fire is also a sad drama:-( Now for the recap:

The noble Lady wants to go to Haburankatha Palace since her due date is near. The King has arranged everything the noble Lady and her mother just needs to go there. She has this child like liking to go to the Haburankatha palace.The mother wants to talk to the father and ask the Maha Sangha to say Pirith to the Lady and then the next day they will be able to go to the palace.

The good minister goes to meet the priest. The bad minister is talking for Patiya Bandara. The good minister tells the priest that the bad minister will change after he sees the power of the King ( here the King is called as Prince Kundasala again). The priest points out that Patiya Bandara is assembling an army against the King in the Kandyan Kingdom Forest. The priest continuous to say that the good minister should not tell anyone about this tip nobody should know that they are spying on the bad minister.


The King comes to the minister meeting. The King stops the welcome talks. He is pissed off about the Portuguese killing the Southern people ( that's where I come from:-) The Portuguese have sent a gift for the King for his coronation. Along with this they have asked a day for their ambassadors to talk with the King. The King have ordered the west gate guards to come with him to Haburankatha Palace. The good minister is concerned. The King holds up his hand to the good minister and asks Yalagoda the bad minister to give advice. Yalagoda says well the West gate guards are good angampora fighters and they'll need some practice for a change instead of falling a sleep in front of the West gate. The good minister objects but the King points out the Portuguese are not at war with them. The bad minister says he has looked into a new set of guards to the west gate - this sounds bad. Again the good minister objects but the King asks the noble Lady's father how the situation in Matale is. The minister says the pepper farmers are forced to sell their crops only to the Portuguese at a lower price. Without giving a solution to that problem the King asks so when is the noble Lady coming to the Haburankatha Palace? The minister is baffled. The minister again asks what about the pepper problem. The King says we will talk about it at Haburankatha palace while we are relaxed. The Portuguese gift is opened and it is a branded Brandy bottle.

Daskon and the Queen consort are having a nice talk. She pours him a fruit juice she made herself. He drinks it and says well this tastes really good I feel like a bee. The Queen consort then asks him why the bee does not drink the nectar from the flower. To this Daskon replies that the flower belongs to another bee. I could only look at the flower without crushing it. The Queen consort gets the meaning of this. She comes near to him and says well the flower likes the bee who looks without crushing the flower rather than the bee who sucks my nectar ( the Queen consort loves Daskon rather than the King - this is bloody dangerous). Well guys have to point out that Daskon was promoted to the rank of a nilamà / minister. Also the noble Lady's father just doesn't like the King and his boyish ways...........to be continued on the 26th episode.

Well guys its happening Raman is falling for Ishita his Chandi Rajina:-) We saw yesterday how at first Raman took Aditya's side but later its Shrawan he saves. He makes Adi say sorry to Ishitha the same way he made Ishitha say the same to Adi. Later you will also see how Raman gets jealous of Ishita's relationship with Mani ( her best friend).

Today he will buy Ishitha a dress and will see what happens next. Raman just doesn't understand that he is falling in love with Ishitha. Ruhi is going to stick her parents togather and make them fall in love with each other. What I'm afraid of is that Aditya and Shagun will interfere. Well I'm watching the Indian version and right now Aditya and Shagun are destroying Raman's and Ishita's relationship. Will their love survive Shagun's evil plan to get married to Raman again?

In the book ( custody) through which Yeh hai Mohabbatien is made from the plot line is different. Raman and Ishitha are yet husband and wife in the end of the novel but what will happen in the drama. As far as I have watched in the Indian version the family is living very lovingly with Ruhi.

Well racism must have started way back when the Blacks were taken in as slaves. It did not stop there though till this day racism remains as one of those bad things left behind by our ancestors. Its come to the point where you are Black,Brown or White. Many have tried to go past racism such as Barack Obama, Micheal Jackson and Bob Marley but how is it that racism survived till our generation?


 Well if you guys look around racism is everywhere and is given to you even through your education. Let's take a simple fairy tale for example:
Snow White and the seven Dwarves.
 The Princess was white as snow and that is why the evil queen wants to kill her. Well she wasn't brown as a date or small eyed...no. she was white as snow. From this a child internalises the fact that begin white is important and that a Princess could only be white. Then there are advertisements that only show fair looking men and women specially in the SouthEast Asian regain. If a girl/boy is portrayed as brown or dark skinned it means that she/he has to get fair by using some kind of cream. Now this is where we as teenagers internalise the fact that begin white brings us a different social status and overall image.


Racism is every where we go and in almost every book we read. According to sociologists the very fact that coloured people are under represented in many areas of life is in it self racist. For example: look at all the Bollywood actors and actress are many of them darker skinned? No because dark skinned is not beautiful.

Of course there are exceptions for example last year Twelve Years as a Slave won many film awards. Also writers such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie write books which promote coloured people. Its not just coloured skin that is the target of racists. Your eyes are also looked at. Look at Koreans and Japanese they are very fair but they are put down by the fact they have tiny eyes. Look at the Chinese they are called Yellow people because of their skin colour.

Let's just see the ideology here, which is that only the dominant white are the only "normal" people in the world.By ridiculing other races the white ideology is trying to stay dominant after industrialisation. They then could conquer the world and justify it by saying that the ones they conquered are lesser than them. It then seems that the white west are "civilising" the uncivilized.

So let's say that racism may never leave our world at the pace we are going. We should call ourselves the sons and daughters of Mother Earth. So why bother dividing ourselves according to our colour and eyes?

Hello my blog readers! No I'm not high but I'm in a good mood cause the best episodes of My Girl on are on TV now. Well nothing special is happening in Sri Lanka other than all the politicians slinging mud at each other:-) Mere Adarayai/Yeh hai mohabattien Sri Lankan episode on Friday was awesome with Parmith being a vulgar with Ishitha I want Raman to hammer that bugger so badly. Now for the Daskon episode guys. The drama is really catching up isn't it specially with the baby on the way:-)


Patiya Bandara is with is mother the former Yakaladoli the second consort of the late King. The assistant says "he should be killed" referring to the King. The scholar says "shut up you idiot how can you even call the King "he". Call the King by his honorific terms." This part is so hilarious when the servant speaks about killing King while using honorific terms. Even Patiya Bandara laughs at this:-) . You can see by the way Patiya Bandara and his mother exchange loving glances when they talk about the King that they love him dearly but yet he robbed their throne. Patiya Bandara's mother says a poem about the King and his love for playfulness and games.

The poem is continued by the noble Lady's servants. They are having fun. Daskon is busy writing about what's happening. He states that the Kings playfulness has come out today because the noble Lady is next to him. The King is playing around the water while showing off to his consort. So cute:-)

The bad minister and Patiya Bandara's uncle and assistant meet. They change the plan. They are going to attack the King when he goes to inspect the grounds. This according to the bad minister is where the Kings army divides into two. When Patiya Bandara's men attack both Haburankatha and Sankadagala Palaces together then the King will be destroyed. The assistant goes to tell this message to Patiya Bandara.

The good minister goes to the temple to meet the Chief priest. The new Samanara/ new young priest greets him.

The noble Lady screams in pain her servant goes to her quickly. The noble Lady laughs and says now you can sleep till late because of me no? Go tell my mother to come and get scolded for getting up late. The servant says My Lady I was not a sleep I was just laying on the bed and looking at you. The servant forgets to call the noble Lady's mother and just talks about recent gossip. The noble Lady screams and then says quickly go and call my mother. The servant fans and calls the mother. The noble Lady smiles and starts singing to her son. The mother comes with helpers only for the noble Lady to send out all the servants and tell her mother - times getting nearer I think I have to go to Haburankatha Palace one of these days......to be continued next Saturday at 8.30pm on Swaranavahini.
Recap for next week....
Pramila gets a bit too close to Daskon - I mean romantically. The Portuguese are creating havoc in the Southern Province coasts. The King is pissed off. The Governor of the Portuguese sends a present to the King.....we don't see what it is.....maybe its a skull or a small cannon?

Hey guys how are u.....has been been a long week....but because of the Pope 's visit and Thai Pongal got a long holiday. School started so more work for me. Going to to get a new laptop also...:-) now to the recap .....

The King comes to meet Yakaladoli in her Palace in Matale. Daskon has come with him. Everyone bows down before him. Our noble Lady's parents invite him into the Palace.
The new Buddhist priest is named Waliwita Sarankara Samanara. His first sermon is taking place and the good minister is there to witness it. The priest speaks of how Mihidu maha Thero brought Buddhism into Lanka from India. He points out that now in the Kandyan Kingdom he has started to see signs of the end of the Sangha.** A note here guys to this day Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country as 68% of the country is Buddhist. It is from Lanka that Buddhism/Theravadi Buddhism spread to Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.

The King makes a betal for himself . The noble Lady is also there . He asks if she wants anything. She begs him to take her to the Haburankatha Palace. The King shouts out to Daskon. The noble Lady looks so scared. The King asks Daskon if he is recording this stuff in his journal. The King looks a bit angry and says with the Angampora festival how she could dare to ask to come to that Palace. The noble Lady is freaked out then the King kneels down and touches her womb and sings his "son" a lullaby ( this is so cute). After he finishes he gets up and takes the noble Lady's hand and sings to her that she and his son to be born will be at Haburankatha Palace with him forever. They have a sweet moment where both of them want to hug each other but two things are stopping them 1) Daskon smiling like an idiot at them. 2) The fact that the noble Lady's tummy is too big for a great big hug:-)

The young priest is taking his sermon. He speaks of all the great Buddhist priests in Sri Lanka with all their titles. The people are all shocked how is he doing this little by little all their hands come together to worship him.


The scene changes to Patiya Bandara's hiding place. His scholar sends the bad minister a letter saying that they will attack on the Angampora and Elephant festival. Patiya Bandara says we are going to cut up the King. The scholar says no we are not. We are going to kill the King. We are going to take over Sankadagala Palace and the Tooth relic and then have your coronation. Haburankatha Palace is not where the power is it is at Sankadagala that the power is. To this Patiya Bandara says that he wants to fight and then get to be the King. He continues to say that he could beat the King at any Angampora fight. He says that he has beaten the King many times when they were small. The sadness here is that Patiya Bandara doesn't want to rob the throne it is his throne that the Prince has robbed. He is the one the throne belongs to it is just through the screwed system of the last Sinhalese Kings that is causing all this trouble.

Guys I'm getting sick of life and politics . The new President doesn't even let Mr Mahinda Rajapkshe's meetings on air on media channels. The bloody bugger should actually die. He is talking about freedom and all that shit but he is taking revenge on all who were against him. Down to the recap while wishing the Gods curse the so called new president.

The King arrives at the Queen consort 's palace and tells her that today Daskon is going to say a poem of praises on behalf of the King. The Queen consorts tells the King that Daskon wants to touch the skies and reach for the stars through his poetry. Daskon obviously doesn't like the fact that the Queen consort tells this fact to the King.....his face clouds when he sees the Queen consort cuddling the King. Anyway he starts the poem and while the Queen consort and the King are having a fun time we see the Yakaladoli getting out of bed and calling out for her mother - this is a very sad scene.

The mother the Kumarihamy asks why here daughter called her. The noble Lady is muttering about how she comes from the Kuveni's bloodline. The mother looks on and looks very sad at her daughter's state. This happened to her daughter because of the fact that she fell in love with a Prince. That love had turned our noble Lady into a mad woman. The mother asks the Noble Lady are you felling alright and so on. The Lady only speaks of how she is going to tell the King that she wants to come to the Haburankatha Palace. The mother just looks on sadly.

Patiya Bandara's mother is lulling him to sleep. As soon as he falls a sleep his astrologer screams there is going to be an Angampora festival in Haburankatha. Patiya Bandara just mutters and turns the other way and falls a sleep.

The King tells Daskon that they are going Matale in the morning. Daskon does not like this. He just says "Why are we going to Matale?" Daskon continues to show his dislike. He keeps staring at the Queen consort. The Queen consort was smiling all this while but as soon as the King said Matale her smile disappeares and she keeps staring at Daskon. She clearly hates our Noble Lady.

First of all on the 8th Sri Lanka saw the "end of the new begining and the beginning of the end". I just have to say that the Triple Gems should gaurd my country and our President Mahinda Rajapakshe. The whole country is in tears over the loss. May the Gods curse the new president for what he has done to our country and bring back the true President of the people Mr.Mahinda Rajapakshe.( obathuma ta jaya obi ape Maharajano!!!!!!!)
Down to the recap:

The Queen consort's mother is afraid that the Queen will not have children. They decide to go to a Kovil and do a puja and ask for the blessing of the Gods. They are both jealous about the noble lady/Yakaladoli having a child so fast.

The King is in the Palace and he is practicing his sword fighting in the middle of the main palace. He is very playful and we can clearly see that here. He is planning to have an Angampora( Sri Lankan martial art) fighting festival in the countryside. The MahaAdikaram is kind of enthusiastic. Then the MahaAdikaram says that they need to talk about the new rules put by the Portuguese in the Southern ports. The King is yet a teenager of 17 and obviously he is playful a and its hilarious to see the MahaAdikaram's reaction. The King enthusiastically says call the Olandayan's/ Portuguese to the angampora festival let them see the fights and shake in fear. He childishly adds "I'm sure the Portuguese will see our fights and run away in fear. To add to all this the King jumps over a chair and the MahaAdikaram just gives this look " this is the end of our country and our people."

The Noble Lady now the Yakaladoli wants to talk to her mother and so she tells her servant to call her. The servant points out that the Nilamà( he father) and even he Kumarihamy in distress and they are in ill health. They should not be disturbed by the problems and sadness felt by the Yakaladoli. The Noble Lady is sad and angry. From what I see I think the Monnerawila Wallawa is in crisis. The Noble Lady says this child I'm carrying will end all the Waduga's and not let them be royals. The servant says that she is afraid of what the noble lady is thinking about.

Daskon and the Queen consort talk and the Queen consort asks whether Daskon new a lot about poetry and they talk on. I have to say this talking is dangerous both of them are kind of reading each others eyes most of the time. To be continued......on Swaranawahini every weekend 8.30 pm.

This week the Sri Lankan audiences got a shocker scene this week between Ishitha and Raman only to find its a dream by Shagun. This really pissed some people specailly when the I Love You by Raman turned out to be fake.

Today again the fights start as Ishitha did not buy the land that Raman wanted. I think Ishitha knows something Raman does not know about. Lets see what it is today at 9.25 on Me Adarayai.

OK guys.....happy new year and this is Daskon Episode 20. I hope Mahinda Rajapkshe wins the presidential election tomorrow and that there will not be any violence:-)  Down to the recap:


The servants are all guessing what  the sex of the baby is. The noble lady now a second consort to the King.

The Catholics in the Southern coast of Sri Lanka ( they were mainly converted by Joshep Vass and were former Buddhist) are being killed by the Portuguese and the Southerners are running away to the forests to hid from them. A catholic priest comes to ask the new King a place from Sankadagala to keep these people and save them from death. First the priest plays the violin to the King and the ministers. The King obviously is impressed and asks Daskon to ask if the priest has any wishes to be granted by the King.

The priest says his wish and the King without any hesitation says yes I'll give them a village from my kingdom. The ministers practically cry havoc. This can't be done says the good minister. Everyone is against this. The Kandyan kingdom is the city of the Buddhist and no other religions are present in it at this point of history. The Catholics would convert other Buddhist  and this could turn into a problem. Also the MahaAdikaram points out that the King has promised on the Dalada Maligawa ( Temple of the tooth relic) that he would look after the Buddhist in this country.The King says I'm a Buddhist and as a Buddhist I should look after all the people of my country and help them in their need.

Saying this against all the ministers wishes the King grants the priests wishes.

Scene changes and the new Queen consort is seen running around her Palace talking in Tamil. Her father points out that in this Sinhala country you should speak Sinhalese.

Everyone in the Palace is talking about the Yakaladoli's baby / noble lady's baby and the Queen consorts mother asks her why she is not yet fulfilling the wish of the King for a heir.
The Queen consort is silent on this matter and I'm guessing she is barren..........to be continued next week on Saturday at 8.30 on Swaranawahini.

Hey guys I'm back but I'm in a bit of a hurry so let's just jump into Daskon episode 19.

The King is named in his coronation Narendra Singha. He gets married to Pramila Devi and the wedding is done in the Hindu style. Their first night is spent in the King's Palace. We see that in the morning they both have had a nice night together as they have cuddled up and fast asleep.

Patiya Bandara is pissed off. He is getting ready for war against his brother a and his mother watches on quite happily as her son practices.

In Monnerawila the Noble ladies servants are singing again but sadly about ow mournful the waterfall looks without the Noble Lady and the Prince meeting there.

8 months later.............

We see a pregnant lady standi ng right where the Noble lady and the Prince made love. The camera zooms in and we see it is the Noble Lady and that now she is the Yakaladoli the King's second wife. The servants are all guessing if the child will be a girl or a boy.

Back in the Queen's Palace Pramila Devi's mother gives birth to a boy child. The astrologer looks at the child's horoscope and says that he will be the next King. Pramila Devi's father says don't tell this story to anyone else.

Days ion on the other hand is singing songs and asking the Gods to throw blessings on the King and Queen as loong as the sun and moon are in the skies above them..........
