Legends of Tomorrow on Swarnawahini this August.

Okay guysJ. So I am back with the latest drama to be shown on Swarnawahini. Legends of Tomorrow is a CW TV series and it features most of the supporting heroes and villains shown in Flash and Arrow. I know most of us watched The Flash and Arrow when it first premiered in Sri Lanka on Hiru TV. However due to some problems the dramas were discontinued and we were left with some rubbish Sri Lankan dramas (yes those dramas aren’t worth your time). Now finally we have the opportunity to meet all the heroes and villains from Flash and Arrow in one TV series. I think all comic book fans would enjoy this TV series very much, so shall we get to the review?

The drama is set in different timelines. We start off in the year 2166 where we start to follow Rip Hunter who is a time traveller. An evil dictator by the name of Vandal Savage is creating havoc during this time and he kills Rip Hunter’s wife and child. In revenge for this murderous deed, Rip Hunter decides to travel through time to destroy Vandal Savage but this move is opposed by the Time Masters. The so called Time Masters is an organization from the future that controls the time line.

Rip Hunter thus travels against the wishes of the Time Masters through time to 2016, where he starts to assemble a team of outcasts so as to destroy Vandal Savage. These outcasts consist of characters that were present in both Arrow and Flash. So let us look at who these characters are (seriously this feels like meeting old friendsJ ):

Heroes/ The Team:

Rip Hunter: Is a charming guy and is a time traveller. He is the leader of his team and is quite a responsible guy who is trying to destroy Vandal Savage and to save his family.

Firestorm: Firestorm was present in both Arrow and Flash but first appeared in Flash. Firestorm consists of two bodies that were fused together during the explosion in Flash. Firstly the characters were Professor Martin Stein and Ronnie but after Ronnie’s death Martin Stein fused together with Jefferson Jackson.

Ray Palmer/Atom: was of course the boss and ex boyfriend of Felicity in Arrow. He is the owner of Palmer Industries and a part time mad scientistJ. He has a highly powered power suit which gives him supernatural powers. Among other things he is ultra cute and funnyJ.

Sara Lance/ White Canary: She is Oliver Queen’s former lover and the only sister of Laurel Lance who was Black Canary. As you guys remember (from Arrow) Sara was brought back to life but had some emotional issues which were solved by John Constantine.

Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl) & Khufu (Harkguy): These two characters were first introduced in Flash. Kendra is a woman who has many lives. She is incarnated (born again) in every life with her lover/husband/soul mate Khufu. Both Kendra and Khufu featured in the last episode of Flash.

Captain Cold: Is a villain who first appeared in Flash but in Legends of Tomorrow he is a hero. Actually when you think about it Captain Cold did turn a new leaf after having a long chat with Barry/Flash. He is better known to us Sri Lankans as one of the 2 brothers from Prison BreakJ.

Vixen: She appeared in Arrow as the girl who can use animal abilities because of a magical necklace around her neck. However in this case this Vixen is actually the grandmother of the Vixen shown in Arrow.

Heat Wave: He is not so good with Snart anymore. The Time Masters get hold of him to destroy the team made up by Rip Hunter. However in the he does become a part of Rip’s team.

Villians:

Malcolm

Reverse Flash

Vandal Savage

Both Reverse Flash, Vandal Savage and Malcolm Merlyn feature as villains in this drama.

So it is with this group of heroes and villains that the “team “ made by Rip Hunter fights against Vandal Savage, Reverse Flash, Malcolm Merlyn and many other villains. I believe that the whole purpose of Legends of Tomorrow is to give all the sub characters such as Ray Palmer and Snart/Captain Cold a chance to be real heroes. It is after all a very nicely balanced team and every comic readers dream team to an extent. However I do hope that DC comics would not destroy the comics like they did in Arrow. I hated it when Felicity fell in love with Oliver when she is supposed to be working with Flash as per the comics and then you see Laurel get killed when she is the wife of Oliver as per the comics. Please DC follow the comics...we comic book fans hate it when you divert from the comics.

Okay so all the Sri Lankan fans can watch this TV series every weekend starting from the 13^th of August at 7.00pm on Swarnawahini. I do not know whether the series is dubbed in Sinhalese or not but I don’t think they would. The whole series has only one season up to date with 16 episodes of 45 minutes each. The 2^nd Season will premier this October 16^th on CW. I think if all goes well the 2^nd Season will also be shown in Sri Lanka.

The Flash Season 1 and Arrow Season 3 soon on Hiru TV…

Atlantis is seeing its last days. Jason will finally make the decision that the only way to save Atlantis is to kill the bad Queen, who is in fact his mother. With this Atlantis Season 2 ends and so does the story as it was cancelled by BBC. The next dramas or TV series Hiru TV will be showing is Arrow Season 3 and Flash Season 1.

We have already watched Arrow Season 1 and 2 from Hiru TV which was dubbed in Sinhalese. It became very popular in Sri Lanka and made Oliver Queen/Stephan Amell a household name. Yesterday Hiru TV put out the trailers for both The Flash and Arrow as coming soon.

I do not know exactly how Hiru will be showing both shows at the same time but maybe they are showing Arrow on Saturdays and The Flash on Sundays.

However you will not understand certain parts of Arrow without watching The Flash and vice versa so it is a good thing that Hiru choose to show both these dramas together.

We already know Arrow and its characters and plot line well as we have watched Season 1 and 2 before. Of Course this is not the case for The Flash. Flash’s main character is Barry Allen. We saw him briefly in Arrow Season 2 in “The Scientist” episode where he comes as Felicity’s love interest.

We also saw that he gets to know who Arrow is and how he helps Arrow. However in the same episode we saw Barry being struck by lighting and he is left in a coma after being exposed to chemicals in his lab.

It is 9 months after this that Barry gets up and finds out that he has super human speed. He will therefore be fighting crime in he same city as Arrow. It is good to note that Felicity falls in love with Oliver in Arrow Season 3 and they have quite a successful affair.

Flash/Barry would be the third party in this affair with him loving Felicity. This causes jealousy to arise between Arrow and The Flash however later they somewhat becomes friends. Arrow is destined to marry Black Canary/Laurel Lance and The Flash to marry Felicity.

Well if you have watched Prison Break as I have you will also see actor Wentworth Miller the protagonist of Prison Break as the villainous Leonard Snart/ Captain Cold on The Flash.Moreover his on screen brother Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave also in The Flash.

Overall everyone is going to enjoy these two action packed TV series and aren’t I excited!! The parts I really loved were when Arrow and Flash had crossovers which were just awesome.

TV series LOST unfolds on ITN every Sunday.

Well LOST is a very famous TV series and who hasn’t seen the words LOST written in white on a black background. It was shown on ABC in 2004 and ran on for 6 seasons until 2010. This TV series was first shown on ART TV in Sri Lanka and I was among the few to watch it. I am not 100% sure if it was shown on ART TV but I watched it on some channel on Sri Lankan Tv.

The plot line of this series is of a set of plane crash survivors who are stuck in an island. Well as always fights start too occur in a race for survival. The plane after all was full of different kinds of people and they obviously will not fit in. It became famous all over the world and is usually said to be a must watch TV series of all time. I myself was not a big fan of the whole drama; it was far too much to take in at the time it was shown in Sri Lanka. However ITN will be showing it every Sunday at 10 pm.

With the fact that this drama is 6 seasons and has a total of 120 episodes of 40 to 45 minutes in length will of course take forever to end. I mean waiting one whole week for Sunday to watch the next episode is not very appealing to me. Moreover to make the drama more accessible it is dubbed in Sinhala. So this makes it possible to anyone to watch it. So anyone who is jobless at 10 pm on a sleepless Sunday night can watch some first hand action and adventure.

The characters you will be meeting

The series has a lot of supernatural elements especially when it comes to why the plane crashed and about the tribal people who want to kill the survivors. Most of the characters are written off the middle of the series and you kind of feel it’s hard to emotionally connect with a particular character. The cast itself is multi cultural to some extent with Latin Americans and Koreans.

The series continuously reminded me of the reality show Survivor which was also shown on ART TV. The whole series was about how the survivors survive in the island and also how their lives are after this incident. Moreover it also has a part where they show the survivors in their afterlife.

Overall this is a good series and I would recommend you to give it a shot. However as the plot intensifies you will find yourself being annoyed at the fact that the series is only shown on Sundays. The overall waiting for one week to know the next part would obviously annoy you. Anyhow I would give this series 8.3/10 on my drama scale.

Atlantis Season 2 soon on Hiru Tv

Hello again!! Agents of Shield is ending very quickly. Now Hiru Tv has returned with the show everyone loved as much as Merlin. This story follows the Demi god Jason and how he lands on Atlantis. He and his friends have such adventures that sometimes we start to laugh out loud.

Pythagoras and Hercules are both Jason best friends. Half way through the drama we meet Medusa. She is destined to be destroyed by Jason. On the other hand Jason is destined to save Atlantis. This was the storyline of Season 1.

Our Heroes

Season 2 starts with the death of the Princess’s father – the King. The Princess is Jason’s lover to some extend, she becomes the Queen. However she is to battle for her Kingdom against her evil stepmother, the mother Queen. So the Season two is all about Jason fighting to save Atlantis from the Evil Step Mother after she becomes Queen.

My fave dramas both togather

The Sri Lankan fans love Atlantis as much as we loved Merlin. However this series was cancelled by BBC as they did to Merlin, which is very sad since we loved it. I loved the adventures of Jason and his friends, especially the scene where Pythagoras peeks at a naked Jason even when Hercules told him not to do so. The humor is always brought forward be Hercules and Pythagoras.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D on Hiru tv soon

Hello guys here is another epic tv series to be shown on Hiru tv soon. I think it will start this Sunday at 8.30pm. I loved Strike Back with Richard Armitage - Season 1 and Philip Winchester in Season 2 with Sullivan Stapleton. They were and awesome team and the story line was so engaging. However now since Season 4 - Shadow Warfare is coming to an end. Of course its season 5 the final season is coming out this year....ya I am a huge fan of action I even watched The Unit- I loved that too.

Anyway Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D starts after these last few episodes of Strike Back after Kamali dies. It will be shown at 8.30pm on Hiru Tv. It is one awesome series and will remind you of the Avengers.Also Brett Dalton acts in it as Grant Ward the traitor Hydra member.

With only 41 episode hence 2 seasons it would finish quickly. With is we could expect Flash, Arrow Season 3 or Srike Back season 5 to be shown on Hiru tv.........................enjoy the latest Entertainment News on lifeasasrilankan.blogspot.com...
