Drama Queen

I always suspected Aditya wanted to marry Astha for revenge. I mean the whole “OMG I love you Astha!” was way too smooth for me. Today’s episode just heightened my fears and suspicions.  Today the press conference and the fact that Astha was listening to it was just so “suspicious”.

So today Aditya gets a call from Astha and he tells her that he is in a press conference. However this guy doesn’t cut the line. He keeps her there listening to all that is going on in the press conference. This is where Aditya gets an unexpected question. The journalist asks Aditya whether he is marrying Astha to take revenge as he couldn’t do it before.

Aditya’s facial expression just totally changes. He takes the phone and increases the volume. While he is doing this he tells the journalist that it is none of his business. He keeps looking at the phone and then he gives this smug look and kept buttering Astha. It looked as though he wanted her to believe what he said because it wasn’t true.

Aditya’s body language and facial expressions were just so tell tale. Aditya is up to no good. I know he is all “I am the love bird” right now but I have a feeling he has a hidden agenda. You all remember how Aditya hated Astha at the beginning and now all of a sudden he falls in love with her.

Aditya couldn’t take revenge from Astha at the bringing when she made things bad for the Danthanarayanas and now he wants to marry her and make her life a living hell. This is Aditya’s big plan so that he could take revenge for what Astha did to his father.

This is not at all unbelievable since Aditya is that kind of a man. I mean come on look at Ms Danthanarayana; she is an in house slave for the Danthanarayanas. Aditya is their son and obviously he would turn out to be just like his father.  Of course you guys might thin I am ripping Aditya apart but in one of my former posts I told you that Aditya was patriarchal.

 The screen writers are going to make Astha a victim of a hostile husband. Then they are going to make them gradually all in love but before that Astha will suffer, oh she is going to suffer!!!!  Aditya will make her wish that she would have been better off killing herself. This is going to be one hell of a ride guys. I just hope that even though the hints are so clear that it will never happen. I love Aditya right now with all his cuteness but after today’s episode I kind of feel disappointed in him.

I just hope against hope that the screen writers would give us this awfully huge sixer but have to tell you guys that they are doing a bloody good job right now.

Yes!!!!!!!! Another new KDrama finally on Tv Derana!!!!

This rumor was around since The Heirs ended and finally it is proven to be real. My initial reaction is “not very interested”. A KDrama fans you will all notice that this KDrama has none of the big names we are used to such as Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Soo Hyun or Micky Yuchan.  Anyhow let’s get to this drama’s basic details.

Firstly this drama was shown on KBS1 with English subtitles.  It was in the 20% popularity slot and came out as an evening drama.  The drama itself was not very famous as the other KDramas shown on TV Derana such as Boys over Flowers, The Heirs or Princess’s man.  This drama has 152 episodes with 30 to 39 minutes allocated for one episode. However Wikipedia has also mentioned that this drama only had 35 episodes however when I watched this drama it had 151 episodes. This drama was shown from November 2013 to June 2014. So now let’s get to the drama’s plot line.

This drama is a family genre drama. So don’t worry there wouldn’t be much kissing scenesJ.  This drama’s main characters are Gong Deul Im (played by Kim Dasom), Young Sang Hyung (played by Kwag Hee Sung), Park Hyung Woo (played by Beak Sung Hyun), Han Tea Kyung (played by Kim Hyung Jung) and Gong So Im (played by Hwang Sun Hee).

The story revolves around messy and outgoing Duel Im. She aspires to be a musical actress against her parent’s wishes. On her way to an audition she meets Hyung Woo who is a lawyer. He accidentally destroys Duel Im’s dress and their first meeting is not perfect. However with time they fall in love and learn to pursue their dreams. Her sister is successful lawyer Gong So Im who is in love with Hyung Woo and is best friends with her boss Tea Kyung. Unknown to her she is an adopted child.

Hyung Woo is a lawyer and the son of a Judge. He always wanted to be a musical actor but his parents were against it and moreover he had a problem with his vocal cords. His best friend is Tea Kyung and he falls in love with Duel Im because she is everything he wanted to be. Unknown to him Gong So Im is in love with him. He later gives up his law practice and pursues his dream to be a musical actor. However So Im destroys this and makes him start a practice with her as his partner. With the help of his father and mother, Gong So Im will do anything to get Hyung Woo even when she gets to know her sister is Hyung Woo’s lover.

Young Sang Hyung is Hyung Woo’s cousin. Apart from him being drop dead cute he is also the villain. He sees Duel Im’s talent and wants her to sign a deal with him. He will do anything to keep Deul Im to himself. He does everything under his control to tear Deul Im and Hyung Woo apart.

Gong So Im is in love with Hyung Woo since college. She doesn’t tell this to him because she thinks his family will not like her as she is very poor. Her sister is Duel Im and she does everything she could to break Duel Im and Hyung Woo.  She refuses Tea Kyung as she says she doesn't  love him. She will do anything to get Hyung Woo.

Tea Kyung is an extremely cute, gentle and kind hearted person. He is in love with Im So since college. He is also Duel Im’s boss as he is the leader of a drama troupe and a music director. He is so sad when Im So refuses to marry him. However he remains as her best friend.

Ending – Spoilers ahead beware!!!

Well the end is pretty nice. Tea Kyung marries Im So when she falls in love with him. They get to know they are going to be parents at the end of the drama. Deul Im on the other hand finds out that she is adopted. She is forced to give up her relationship with Hyung Woo – if I remember right it is because there was possibility that they were siblings. Hyung Woo at the end of the drama leaves to America to study and he might never come back.

 

Duel Im and Hyung Woo

1 year later…

Duel Im’s costume is ruined by a man whom she starts to scold. She looks up and sees Hyung Woo. They have a chat as to why he never contacts her over a coffee. In the end she goes to her show, however the main actor is having a stomach ache. As soon as his part comes in Hyung Woo comes on stage and a surprised Deul Im sings along with him. So in the end Hyung Woo and Deul Im are finally happy as the curtains close up. We are to assume they got married and lived happily ever after

Tv Derana may show this drama in the usual KDrama slot at 8.30 pm weekdays. They might however move it into the Princess’s Man slot as 7.00pm weekdays, which is the time the Lord Buddha’s life story goes right now. If Melody of Love it clashes with Sujatha or Wassane Premaya, I will not be watching it. As I said in a former post guys never give up what is ours for something which is not ours. No matter what Wassane Premaya and Sujatha are Sri Lankan dramas and are doing very well to break away from traditional Sri Lankan dramas. If we give up watching them then never in our lives will we be able to see such good dramas again. Well any way hope you guys like this drama however most fans showed disgust about the last episode.

Week – August 10 to August 14 2015

Mmm what am I to say? Well I badly need a cute boyfriend like Aditya!!! I am just kidding J. Well but really guys Wassane Premaya is giving a totally different experience to our Sri Lankan audiences. I mean this drama is just so sweet and soo cute! It’s just like a KDrama at the moment and I just love it. Anyway let’s start the review for this week.

Thousands of blistering barnacles! Astha is to marry Aditya and well I am shocked. I never ever thought that this would come up so fast. I have to admit that it was a bit to fast track for me. It also makes me suspicious of what might happen to Astha in the future. Anyhow this week the episodes were just super cute.

Firstly Aditya is showing this extremely sweet, cute side of him and the fans are now in the world of cuteness and sudden smiles. Astha on the other hand readily accepts Aditya’s proposal without even giving it a second thought. If I was in Astha’s place I would have obviously asked for time to think about it. I mean, yes Aditya is super cute but hey this is the same guy who shouted at me, treated me like shit and hates women. What guarantee do I have that I would be able to live happily ever after with this guy? The suddenness of Astha’s “yes I like Aditya” just makes me suspicious of what the screen writers are up to. Are they going to make Astha’s life a living hell after marriage? Are they going to make them divorce as fast as they got married?  Are they going to make Aditya say that he faked all this cause he wanted to take revenge from Astha? Whatever it is it seems we will have to wait and see.

Astha is acting all cute with her love for Aditya. She is even brave enough to live with a monster of a mother in law for Aditya’s sake. However this week we did see hints of tension between the Danthanarayana’s and the Jayasekara’s. Will this heated tension between their families drift these lovers apart? If this happens it will be horrible for the fans and so sad.

On the other hand Astha’s mother is hiding a dark secret about her life from Astha. However this secret is known by Aditya’s mother and she is using to manipulate it for the Danthanarayana’s gain. Astha at the moment therefore is helplessly in love and is as helpless to stop what might destroy her family. Astha is trapped in a trap even Aditya cannot save her from. The Danthanarayana’s are up to no good and this week’s episode kind of showed their hidden plans.

Aditya as always is the arrogant man we have come to love. He still believes he kind of owns Astha since he declared his love for her publicly (literally as it went on national television). I just wish the screen writers just gradually take away Aditya’s patriarchal view on life. He thinks that Astha should simply bare with everything for his sake. If I was Astha I would just tell him to his face he better kick his patriarchal view out of his life if he wanted to live with me. His mother even told Astha’s mother that they can see Astha only on days the Danthanarayana’s tell them its okay. This really mad me angry and it made Astha’s mother angry to.

So this week, we had all those cute times when we all went “awwwwwwwwwww sooooo sweet” but also had times when the female viewers became badass feminists ready to kick some butts for Astha and her family.  By next week we will hear of Astha’s mother’s secret and its consequences on Astha. I believe its time we get ourselves ready for the Jayasekara VS Danthanarayana war in Wassane Premaya and also see how our poor couple gets stuck in between.

Have you ever thought why Rupavahini’s dramas are so special? Ever thought why every week day at 6.30 people flock around Rupavahini? Well let’s take a look as to why Rupavahini’s dramas continue to be so special.

Rupavahini’s KDrama history started with Dae Jang Guem aka Sujatha Diyani. Sujatha Diyani at the beginning did not of course interest many. However I watched it simply because I got used to watching Rupavahini at that time because of Oshine. It was from this KDrama that a whole KDrama wave went through Sri Lanka. Even before this Rupavahini brought to us Oshine and Sazuran (both which became instant hits)

Ever thought why so many people love these dramas? Or why parents who were against children watching TV happily watching Rupavahini 6.30 dramas with them?

Well it seems quite simple when you think about it. Rupavahini never ever showed children anything which was bad. Rupavahini always showed us cartoons which had a great meaning and added something new to our lives. I am sure all of you all watched Dosthara Hodahitha or Kubichchi as children. It was this same ideology that Rupavahini brought into their 6.30 dramas. They always choose the best, meaningful dramas for the Sri Lankan audience to watch.

 

oh I loved this drama - Horse Doctor/ Isiwera Wedaduru

Even thought these dramas they brought in were foreign, they never seemed so to us. This was simply because Rupavahini made them Sri Lankan by the dubbing, language use and censuring of scenes. Take Dong Yi aka Abeetha Diyani for example. This was a drama which had adult content but Rupavahini so easily censured them without us even feeling anything a miss. Rupavahini made this drama and its characters more Sri Lankan than Korean in the same way they made Oshine Sri Lankan.

Rupavahini had he magical ability to add our culture to a foreign drama. Moreover these dramas promoted formal Sinhalese which wasn’t used normally. This made us learn new words and made it easy for us to understand formal Sinhalese and even use it when necessary. J

Moreover the dubbing by Rupavahini is just superb. They have taken the most complex dramas and made them just beautiful. I mean just imagine Dong Yi without the dubbing or Sujatha Diyani with only subtitles. Then it would just be so horrible. This is one of the main reasons why Rupavahini 6.30 dramas to become so famous. We never once felt that some character’s voice was out of place. Also unlike other television channels Rupavahini chose the longer dramas and this needs such a lot of hard work. They even went up to the extent of doing the background music which was as beautiful and meaningful as the theme songs. The theme songs of these dramas also became instant hits. Sujatha Diyani’s theme song was pretty much memorized by all the kids. I am sure all of us can remember every single 6.30 drama song on Rupavahini. Presently Janahithakami Rajiniya’s theme song by Sahan Ranwala (hope the spelling’s right) is quite a sensation among children (including meJ  )   

The dramas themselves were ones with so much meaning in them. They had very feminist and strong headed women who inspired many women out there. There were dramas which spoke of great kingdoms, love, great kings, friends and great doctors. All these inspired us and this was a main reason why we want these dramas to continue. They gave us daily inspiration to be something more than we ever thought we could be.

The Moon Embraces the Sun/ Hiru Sandu Adarei

All these dramas had romance and love as main themes but Rupavahini never over emphasized them. The best example for this was The Moon Embraces the Sun aka Hiru Sandu Adarei. This drama’s main theme was love with a lot of sexual innuendo but Rupavahini easily gave more emphasis on King Lee Hwon’s and Yung Myung’s brotherly love. It is this trick which tricked all our parents to give in and let us watch it.  

So what Rupavahini has done is to carry on the great work that Titus Thotawatha sir or Tie Mama did. Athula Ranasirilal sir is doing such a good job. They have also chosen the best Korean historical dramas shown on MBC to be shown in Sri Lanka. This is really great for me as Historical KDramas are usually long and watching them online meant killing my Wi-FiJ. Anyhow these are few of the many reasons why Rupavahini 6.30 dramas are so special. These are only a few reasons but if you have any of your own please feel free to drop a comment J J J J J J

Mmm…If I asked everyone who hates Sajith to put their hands up then I am very sure everyone would do so. This is simply because everyone hates Sajith and this everyone includes me. His character is that of a cold villain. He is someone who plays his evil roles behind everyone’s backs.  However as a child his character was not so evil, as a matter of fact he wasn’t evil at all.

When he was a kid and then in his teenage years he was a sweet kid, however when he came from abroad he became very annoying. I also think that the directors have chosen a wrong actor to act out the role of Sajith. I mean come no the actor looks like a gadawila (I am sorry to say this). I mean after seeing all the cute Sri Lankan, Indian, Korean and Chinese actors this guy just disgusts me. However he does have some talent in him. May be he needs to do something with his hair and get rid of that beard.

Sajith’s character annoyed the audience mainly when it was shown that he harbored thoughts for Sujatha. I mean in our minds Sujatha was only for Shakya and no one else, when Sajith came in between he just became an eyesore.   He also right now is trying to force Sujatha to marry him and this in my eyes is so shity. He simply gets under my skin and he hates Shakya. Actually when you think about it he is the one who made Sujatha understand her love for Shakya. When Sajith hammered Shakya, Sujatha found out he has feelings for Shakya.

While the present track is so cute with Shakya and Sujatha living their love, Sajith just annoys us all. I mean he continuously gets in between Sujatha and Shakya. To make things worse he has a partner in crime in Chanuka. Chanuka mind you wants Sujatha married off to Sajith so that Chanuka can get hold of the hotel. I just hope that Sirasa TV wouldn’t drag this guy’s evilness to much. This will just make us stop watching Sujatha. 

Shakya right now is everyone’s darling, he is the sweet boy, the go get boy in Sri Lankan teledramas right now. With the rise of fame of Sujatha, Shakya has become the cutest boyfriend yet. Played by Mardava, Shakya has thus become a household name. I have to point out that Mardava is doing a bloody great job of acting out this character.

To start with we see Shakya firstly as the arrogant school boy who hates Sujatha, mind you he cute even when he was a kid. Anyhow at the beginning we actually love this kid. I don’t know about you guys but from the beginning itself I knew that Shakya and Sujatha was meant to be together. Even at their teens that chemistry was just there. Well they always say love starts from friendship and Shakya and Sujatha just did. Well ya right now I am finding a cute boy best friend – you guys should too J

Well as I said before Shakya was an arrogant and stubborn kid who thought that money was everything. However after falling in love with Sujatha he started to change. Thins change was happening big time and Shakya wanted to be the “sensitive” guy Sujatha wanted. This all started with him naming a kitten “Sensitive” and taking time to talk to it regularly. This also led the nerd Shakya to become romantic Shakya. Sujatha however just didn’t see this change and went on being Sajith’s little sister.

Of course this annoyed Shakya big time and his studies gradually deteriorated. Well his father got worried so much that he sent on of Shakya’s friends to stay with him. This cute friend of Shakya’s somehow made ways for Shakya to get closer to Sujatha. Shakya’s gradual change was so cute to watch. Trust me I have a soft spot for guys who changed their waysJ. 

Anyhow Shakya in the end saved Sujatha from the thugs who wanted to kill (she wasn’t that much of a damsel in distress – she fought back). This was pretty cute as it is something that Shakya wouldn’t usually do. To add to all this, the on screen chemistry of Mardava and Nehara is something that adds something ore to their acting.

With Shakya and Sujatha’s love story beginning this drama is a must watch drama for Sri Lankans. The cuteness in this drama is just oozing out right now. However Chanuka, Sajith and Sujatha’s father are all against this love story. I just hope Niroshan will understand Sujatha’s feelings and support Shakya and Sujatha’s marriage. Moreover in recent episodes we will be seeing Chanuka telling Sujatha that she is just a orphan who was taken in by his parents. Sujatha gets hurt big time and she runs away from home. Anyway when Shakya and Sujatha’s farther find her we hear a shot being fired and the trailer ends there.

So at the end of the day everyone who watches Sujatha root for a Shakya and Sujatha forever, I hope that the directors and script writers would fulfill this hope J J J J J
