At last a good Indian drama on Sirasa TV. Well "Swapna" with Suraj and Swapna and their dream to make her a police officer in India is alright but its melodramatic. Firstly Swapna with her melodramatic acting looking at her mother in law like a fellow who is mad just doesn't appeal me . The story itself is old fashion and gives a stereotypical view on indians. I mean Sri Lanka has gone way off from "girls shouldn't study" mother in laws. On the other hand Me Adarayai gives a more modern feminist but yet cultural view on India.
Raman and Ishita marry because of Ruhi but they hate each other. This makes sense to why they don't sleep on the same bed and unlike Swapna Ishita is an ambitious woman who does what she wants. She has her own will unlike Swapna who goes along with anything as long as her family is happy. She only gets some energy on her face when she does Police stuff. Ishita and Raman unlike Suraj and Swapna always fight and have fun other than by holding each other's hands or getting into accidents in Jaipur.
To me Ishita and Raman represent a better couple than Suraj and Swapna. I love the way each episode shows a special side of either one of the characters rather than only conflict. Raman as the loving father and husband is a cuter storyline:-) I love the way he dresses Ishita and get jealous over Mani's and Ishita's friendship. In that sense Raman and Ishita's love story is more real for Sri Lankans than Swapna.
Overall Me Adarayai /Yeh hai Mohabbatein is a must watch for my viewers because it is something more than a soap opera it is a book (custody) turned into a Tv series maybe this is a reason why it has such a attractive storyline. I have to point out that the TV series is far better than the book which portrayed Ishita is a different way. My Sri Lankan blog viewers can watch Yeh hai Mohabbatein/Me Adarayai on Sirasa tv every weekday at 9.30 pm others could watch it online on Star Plus in Hindi and read the recap online.:-)
